hey! Do you have any cool headcanons for Horace and Enoch?
hihii! yess i most certainly do!
(these can be either platonic or romantic - whatever floats your boat ♡)
enoch o'connor + horace somnusson headcanons
𝜗𝜚 enoch lovesss pestering horace with his homunculi, mostly because enoch finds it hilarious how angry this makes him. he would send a horde of them into horace's bedroom to steal his sewing tools while he works on his designs. inevitably, horace would look up from his sewing machine to find everything missing and SCREAM at the top of his lungs. meanwhile enoch is standing outside his door, giggling like a little menace.
𝜗𝜚 one of the very few things they have in common is that they're both absolute homebodies. while all the others set out to play by the beach, enoch insists on being cooped up in the basement, while horace prefers to lounge with a steaming mug of tea cuddled under heaps of fluffy blankets (like the little prince he is)
... but they also just detest being outside, LOL.
𝜗𝜚 so most afternoons they'll have the entire house to themselves, which kind of forces them to hang out. it's usually a very bored horace who sets out to find him, and ask something along the lines of: "...sooo want to play chess". in response, enoch is all "UGHHH! okay fine, but only cause' there's nothing else for me to do."
(he secretly loves spending time with him, though).
𝜗𝜚 for all their mutual 'loathing', enoch is actually one of the few people who can effectively comfort horace during his nightmares. throughout the series, it was often implied that horace hates being viewed as weak. so when he's startled awake - crying, fighting for breath - the last thing he wants is to be babied. thankfully, that is far from enoch's means of comfort. so instead, he'll just sit by the edge of horace's bed. allow him to air out his sorrows without judgement. then enoch will go on to crack the occasional joke, or make his homunculi do something silly with hopes of making him laugh.
𝜗𝜚 i personally hc that horace also has frequent panic attacks, due to his nightmares and a lack of sleep which severelyyy induces his anxiety. whenever this happens, enoch prompts horace to ramble about fashion or designers or his current projects to distract him. what's sweet about this is that all of those topics bore enoch to literal tears. and yet, he'll still sit and listen if it means tethering horace back to reality.
𝜗𝜚 once, horace surprised enoch with a suit for his birthday. it was actually quite beautiful, but much too posh and extravagant for enoch ... as a matter of fact, enoch hated it. but seeing the amount of effort he put into it, enoch ended up wearing it for his birthday dinner + cake. he even combed his hair back and *dramatic gasp* showered! (/hj).
yes, enoch might've been grumbling the whole time ... but seeing horace happy almost! made it all worth it.
𝜗𝜚 occasionally they would gossip, over tea of course (at horace's insistence). this was more common for them to do in the years that emma and abe were together because they 1. are wildly protective over their older sister and 2. disliked abe
(and between enoch's rudeness and horace's sass, they're possibly the FUNNIEST shit talkers ever omgg).
𝜗𝜚 horace makes the most delicious food, because what isn't that boy good at?? whenever he makes enoch a plate, he'll DEVOUR it. then when horace asks if it was any good, enoch only shrugs and says that it could've used more salt or something. like you know DAMN well that was the best meal you’ve ever had in all your hundreds of years, what are we lying for!!!
𝜗𝜚 in hollow city after horace got knocked unconscious by one of the wights, enoch was sooo worried for him afterwards. only, he's reluctant to reveal his care for others, so he kept calling horace an idiot for talking back to the wights in the first place and said, rather bluntly, that he could've been killed for how he acted.
𝜗𝜚 but then all the while, enoch kept sneaking glances at horace's face to make sure he hadn't been bruised too badly.
𝜗𝜚 after the events in the series take place, they got much closer and stopped arguing as much. war, tragedy, and an absurd amount of near-death experiences will do that to you.
of course, that's not to say they weren't at each other's throats fairly often. after all, this is horace and enoch we're talking about!! the basis of their relationship is their little rivalry. but i think it's safe to say that enoch - upon seeing this new, more courageous side to horace - stopped calling him a coward altogether. and horace refrained from scolding / insulting enoch as often as he did all those years ago. :)
