I've drawn him at least THIRTY TIMES!! THAT'S MORE TIMES I'VE EVER DRAWN ANY CHARACTER PERIOD!!!! god,,, forgive me, for I have simped way too hard for this character who isn't even my own...

what do I like about him? I'm so glad you asked.
it all started way back in the year '26... I'd just read the chapter with a flashback to Uriel and Gabriel commenting on humans sacrificing a lamb to God... the imagery of the whole scene stuck with me, so I painted it without really sitting down to make a design for Uriel. but when I finished the piece and looked at it, I realized that, man. why did I make him so hot.
I can't emphasize just how much the earrings (based off Gabriel's tassels as a way to show their bond) I gave him endeared me to him. they're not even 21ge canon I just needed him to have them.
anyways... I just love the pervasive bittersweetness of how kiva writes him, his archetype as a trickster/black sheep/maverick, the wisest of the archangels, one whose role is to light the way for creation, someone who knows the truth but is destined to never speak it for the sake of those he loves. always the first to smile and last to receieve sympathy and holds on to a hidden pain deep down. someone who never forgot love. someone who is never, ever satisfied...
I don't know if anybody's noticed this, but I also try to slightly change his appearance depending on where on the timeline we're at! very early on, before [REDACTED] disappears, he's got a smaller, more twiggy build because he's still a teenager. he wears loose, casual robes, and he also ties up his hair/wears it rather neatly. after growing into an adult and becoming the Judge of Hell, he has a stockier build and his hair gets more wild/scruffy. the idea is, basically, when he was first "born", his appearance was closer to the role God intended for him to play - and he was also closer to God... only over time did he start deviating from all this. (still, it wouldn't be inaccurate to say he didn't fit in from the start - I always try to include some asymmetry in his design because of his maverick personality!) (this is also why the tarot card of him as an idealized figure is almost completely symmetric...)
Hell showing her favorite GoPro that she absolutely controls everything in her domain and that V1 is only allowed the illusion of control when she allows (the static appearing after 8-4 boss fight that transitions V1 onto the stage + other times).

I also could have done some things with this mini comic better, but I've already been working on it for a while and wanted it done. I also hope this is spoiler free for those who haven't beaten 8-4 yet, kinda, probably not. I suck at that kinda stuff 😞.
