hey! me and my girlfriend just got magnets today and we were gonna test them at American eagle but didn't work :( what kind do they have to be? and where do we get them? bc we used ceramic magnets
Ceramic mags dont work /: they gotta be neodymiums (u can get them at homedepot) or better is a golf detacher from aliexpress

On the website you can see pictures of all their tags and towers with names and descriptions! This has allowed me to know exactly what a tower does and how it looks. i went in yesterday to get some new clothes. LITERALLY everything was tagged. EVERYTHING. it was fucking insane??? i didn’t have my hook on me or anything to push in their tags (TINY TINY TINY hole btw, you would need an embroidery needle at the thickest because i couldn’t get it with a sharp pen or a bobby pin) so i decided to just get some pink fishnets. bitches get pink fishnets.
i went into the dressing room w them underneath a big sweatshirt. SA didn’t see em so i felt totally okay about bagging them up, looked all over the package before i did and felt it for any tags, nothing… tried and failed to detag, put everything back, browsed around a little more, walked out…

Tags & How to Remove them
GATOR TAGS: You can remove them by wrapping a rubber band in between the pin and the tag. Type in “How to remove gator tag with rubber band” on youtube.(: THIS IS THE ONLY TAG THAT CAN BE REMOVED WITH A RUBBER BAND.
SENSORMATIC TAG: I’ve seen them as white, tan, and black. As long as it has a little slot on it, you can remove it with a hook. Below is a picture of what a hook looks like and where you can order it in the U.S.

I call the first 3 tags “golf” and “clam” tags. I don’t know what #4 and #5 are called. I’ve never seen #7-#9 either. Haha. #6 is a pencil tag attached to a lanyard. Lanyards are tough to cut. You’d have to have some wire cutters or something. All of the tags above can be removed with a golf detacher, which is made of a Neodymium magnet. Below is a link to where you can buy a golf detacher and what it looks like.

SPIDER WRAP: These are normally used on boxed items. DON’T TRY TO CUT THE WIRES BECAUSE AN ALARM WILL SOUND. You can either remove it by ripping off a corner of the box and shimmying the wrap off or you can use a spider wrap detacher. I’m not sure how the detacher works because I don’t have one, but you can search it up on youtube.(: A picture of the detacher and a link to buy it is below.

So it’s been requested that there be a huge list of stores and the types of tags they use so here is kind of a first draft. I actually had a lot of this written down already so there’s also some general advice about each store. I’ve put down what I learned through research or experience so some stores may have less info than others. Remember this can vary depending on where you live and you should always check thoroughly for tags!
This is a guide on types of tags (with pics) and removal for reference:-)
If there’s a store left off that you want me to add or you have any corrections/additional info please message me so I can add it and this list can be more informative!
Abercrombie and Fitch/Hollister Super tags that require a hook Black dome cameras, mostly near register, but the separate rooms make for easy concealment
Aerie/American Eagle Tags for items over $30-$40 In my experience the dressing rooms aren’t well monitored so I conceal there
Aeropostale No tags Personally I don’t shop here so I don’t have much advice about dressing rooms or cameras but as always scope out the store and leave if you’re sketched out!
American Apparel RFID and pencil tags Sometimes you can find things untagged. SAs count going into the dressing room but they don’t usually hover so you can conceal a few things
Anthropologie RFID
Bath and Body Works No tags! Few cameras (mostly by register) and easy to conceal; SAs will probably greet you but if you’re nice they’ll leave you alone
Barnes and Noble NEVER try to lift medical textbooks. Paperbacks are hardly tagged, especially books that have been out awhile, but still flip through them. If you are lifting a moleskin journal or something take the plastic off first. The best method is taking a school backpack, picking out a few books, then sitting for awhile, reading/doing work/etc then just sticking your new books in your backpack
Charlotte Russe I haven’t been in awhile so idk the tags but they do monitor dressing rooms. Once I went in an unlocked dressing room and an SA knocked and asked who gave me the room and why I didn’t have a card saying my # of items etc. However I don’t think they count coming out.
Claire’s No tags Lots of mirrors in Claire’s so watch for those when finding a blind spot!
DIck’s Sporting Goods Tags require a hook I believe; almost everything is tagged in apparel Someone has to unlock the dressing room but they don’t count items
Dillard’s No tags from what I’ve heard
Forever 21 Dome ink tags; require a magnet I don’t believe they use RFIDs, so if an item is untagged it’s probably good to go; However the dressing rooms are well monitored, so concealing on the floor is probably best
Francesca’s No tags! The stores are pretty small so concealing clothes can be a bit difficult, but if they don’t count in the dressing room you’re prob good to go. Jewelry is super easy though
Free People Attentive SAs; they like to start rooms for you. Conceal on the floor and try not to linger
Garage I believe some things have tags but I know there are things that don’t. Not many SAs in my experience so pretty easy to conceal if you find a blind spot. They also monitor dressing rooms pretty well
J Crew Tag items over $30 and uses RFIDs
H&M Not sure about tags Stores are generally big and the SAs stick to the register area so concealing isn’t very hard
Hot Topic Not exactly sure about tags but I don’t think they tag everything
Loft RFID Large store usually, and I don’t remember anyone ever monitoring the dressing rooms very much
Lush No tags! Small store and attentive SAs, so getting in out as fast as possible is best
Lululemon Most things are tagged (I don’t remember what kind) and SAs count going into dressing rooms. You can conceal things like leggings and shorts pretty easily, but only if you find a good blindspot since there are cams
Madewell RFID tags
Old Navy No tags Generally few cameras and dressing rooms aren’t monitored
Pacsun Ink tags or super tags, RFIDs inside cardboard tags. I’ve also seen gator tags that you can remove with a hair band Generally inattentive SAs, few cameras (still scope out in advance), don’t count going in dressing rooms
Starbucks No tags This is one of the easiest stores. After ordering a drink just pick up whatever stuff you want and hold it like you own it. As far as I know employees don’t really do much when merchandise goes missing, but make sure no other customers are paying attention
Sephora Some tags, likely RFIDs on palettes I don’t really mess with Sephora; lots of cams and attentive SAs
Target Black dome cameras all around the store. They count going into dressing rooms. Finding a blindspot is hard but can be done. Please be extremely careful here they have plainclothes LP that are generally pretty good and they really don’t fuck around lol
Urban Outifitters Black square tags that require a magnet; RFIDs in price tags I’ve heard they count going in and out of dressing rooms and that they use magnet sensors so be careful. I also believe they have LP but not much info on that
Victoria’s Secret Pencil tags that require a magnet, but they sometimes use tags that require hook so be prepared; tag almost all clothes and bras and the occasional panty Locations vary greatly, but employees can’t act on you unless they are sure you’re stealing. There’s a lot of advice about VS floating around, and most people conceal in the dressing room, using shopper bags to bring in a lot of underwear
Ulta RFIDs on palettes There’s usually a blind spot in the hair care section, but always scope out the area well. Pretty attentive SAs but just act like you know what you’re looking for

Shit quality I know but my all the nearby Macy’s are doing this shit to purses and I was talking to the SA BC I actually went there to buy a bed so u wasn’t lifting and u said “so I see you guess implemented something to finally stop people from stealing your expensive purses” and she said “yeah we had this problem where this girl with long black hair came in before closing and grabbed as many as she could carry as quickly as possible and she left no one caught her or noticed her till the alarms went off”
GUYS THAT WAS FUCKING ME 3 YEARS AGO AND I HADNT BEEN BACK SINCE I WORE A DISGUISE AND TOOK 9 MICHAEL KORS BAGS BC MY RENT WAS DUE IN A WEEK AND I HAD BILLS TO PAY Straight made $1600 that week. I don’t lift like that anymore because of my son but damn do I miss that.
i 100% get why you had to do this so no judgement to you, but let this be a lesson to other lifters. y'all sloppy asses making it harder for other lifters. this is why ulta is stepping their game up and adding TRACKABLE, screaming tags with fucking cameras on them to the naked palettes. when you steal a whole rack of something, yeah you get away with it at that moment but you’re making it harder for future hauls and other lifters. stop making LP step up their game. DON’T. BE. SLOPPY. otherwise lifting altogether will basically become impossible.
Hanger PSA
I just read a post about how a lifter here conceals hangers (I literally just read it and then now I can’t find it, sorry) by pinning them to her back.
I just want to warn everyone to check hangers thoroughly. I was at a store that i frequent (for actual shopping) not to long ago just browsing, and I happened to pick up a shirt and look it over. For some reason I decided to take a peek at the hanger (shouldn’t have done this on the floor but curiosity got the better of me) and I noticed a small hole in the bottom of this wooden hanger. The thicker plastic ones had them too.
For some reason it struck me as odd, so I looked closer and there was a very faint flashing light inside the hole. I ended up taking it to try on so I could look closer. The fitting room was dark so I took the opportunity to ask the attendant why the hanger was flashing. She was okay talking to me because I always chat people up and make friends with atrendants.
IT’S A GPS TRACKER. It’s like those little tags you can get to put on your things and use an app to find where they are!! Not only will it set off the alarm, but they can pull up a program to see where it is.
Then she said they are working towards getting more discreet ones that are basically undetectable. They’re expensive but they have helped catch more people.
I left after chatting with her and got curious. I went into several other stores and 5/7 of them had some kind of security device on the hanger. Whether it was just a soft tag or a full on GPS tracker.
It’s becoming more common in my mall because it’s near a few high schools so the theft rate is really high.
What I’m trying to say is BE CAREFUL.

WTF. Lifting the hanger is one of my favorite techniques. I usually ditch it in the bushes outside of the store anyway, but I will start checking them because this is crazy
TAKE THE HANGERS. Don’t LEAVE EVIDENCE. DUMP IN A NEAR BY DUMPSTER OF A DIFFERENT STORE! MAKE SURE THERE ARE NOT CAMS WATCHING THE DUMPSTERS.

The drop technique and my quick concealing method shown.
Drop technique notes: 1. Use a bag with a shoulder strap so you don’t have to think about where the handles are. You do not want to worry about getting your product tangled up in them. Another benefit of a shoulder strap bag is that there is no gap between the bag and your body (that the product could fall through). 2. Use a structured bag, so that if your product hits one of the sides (as my peanut butter & honey palette did!!), it falls inside anyway! Floppy purses are bad for this because your product can become unbalanced on the cloth if it hits the side, and end up on the floor. Cloth is just one more thing for the product to become tangled in. 3. See how the inside-tops of each side of my purse are angled slightly inward (toward the zipper)? These are your bumpers, babes. Like rails in Mario kart, these guide your product into the bag, so you don’t have to think about it at all. 4. I usually do something with my hand while doing this, as an excuse to move my arm and drop the product. Because I don’t touch my purse, it was clearly “just an accident” if I were to be caught. 5. Once this is done, immediately zip up your purse. Preferably do the concealment and zipping in a blindspot, or the closest thing to a blindspot as you can find. Also a great tip: walk into the store with your phone in a pocket. After dropping, place your phone into your purse and zip it up *without looking* at it.
Light speed conceal technique notes: 1. Hold the product in the hand on the opposite side of your body from your purse. Here, my purse is on my left and the product is in my right hand. I conceal it with my right hand. First, my left arm provides a little bit of cover. Second, it’s just a lot less obvious to me to have my right arm crossing in front of my body than it would be if I were bending my left arm to put the product in. I also like to use my left hand to hold my purse open if it’s a really big item (like I’m doing here; if it’s not a large item, I don’t do this). Third, it’s just a lot harder to do with the arm that’s next to the purse, IMO. Try both out, see what works best for you, and do so in front of a mirror. Practice, practice, practice. 2. Use only in what you are 200% sure is a blindspot. Also great for stores with no cams. 3. Use in clothing stores that count going into dressing rooms (conceal before you go in and detag in the dressing room). Again, be wary of cams. 4. Don’t do this with people around! Very advanced lifters probably are already using this technique to crowd conceal, but if you aren’t very advanced don’t do this anywhere near other people or only try it with *extreme* caution. Practice at home first!! For me, I often use my partner’s body to block others’ view of the side that my purse it on. Using a support beam, wall, or display on that side can also be helpful. I sometimes do it when I’m in a busy store and I’m 200% sure there is no one behind me and maybe one or two people in front of me, both facing away from me. The only reason I do it in these situations is because I’m also 200% sure I can conceal the item in less than 2 seconds (as shown here). If someone did turn to look at me after I’ve started to conceal, worst case scenario is that they see me with my hand in my purse. I’m pretty quick. 5. I often use this technique in makeup stores while holding 2 items. I only want to conceal one and the other is my decoy, which I hold on top of the thing I want. Then I cross my right arm over my body and pretend to look closer at something on a shelf (maybe reach out and grab something with my left hand and look at it), and only shove/drop one item in my purse. Then I’m still holding my decoy which I put somewhere random before leaving. It’s less sus in stores crowded with SAs. 6. Never ever EVER: do this in front of a camera, in front of another person, or on the floor in a store with very active and vigilant LP! Don’t do it! This method is CLEARLY intentional, unlike the drop technique. I have no cover or excuse for this if I get caught and neither do you. This is my favorite and most used technique, but it’s risky. Again, I only recommend this for the experienced and the entirely un-sus. I had a lot of experience before I ever tried concealing on the floor like this. Please be careful.

I do worry because I know LP reads liftblr to catch on to different techniques, plus some of them are quite hard to show (given that the whole point is to make it hard to see what I’m doing!). Avoiding Counting In/Out
A lot of places count going in and out, so here’s just a couple of ways to conceal on floor before they count. This is vital because if you’re caught lying about the number of items you have, the way you act can make an SA sus or not of you. In any case, just act apologetic, smile, and tell them you must have miscounted or thought you put something down... showing even the slightest amount of anxiety/apprehension (whatever the right word is) can and will make SAs sus of you. I just smile and shrug my shoulders a tiny bit and apologize for miscounting lol. Anyway, here are some of the methods I use to avoid the whole “what if they count in/out” situation. Don’t forget that most fitting rooms are unstaffed until you call an SA over (or they see you waiting) so walk in a bit and conceal while you can!
Shopping bag/purse: While in a blindspot or the fitting room, (or make your own by reaching into a display of clothes acting like you’re checking for a size), put whatever clothing items you want in your bag! I use an Äëröpöstälë or F21 bag since they’re super big and quite opaque. If you need a bag, bring a light jacket with you and ask a store if you could have a bag to put your jacket in! They’ll rarely say no. This method is great for ÜÖ, their clearance section is usually the best since they have all those racks and barely (if any) cameras.
Jacket: I absolutely LOVE this method so much. Have a zip-up or jacket on your arm and act like you’re just fixing or checking it out (lifting it up slightly, “examining” it, anything to be able to put the item under it), and discreetly fold or just slide your item under your jacket. Just make sure it’s not visible through your jacket by “adjusting your hair” in a full body mirror. No SA is going to ask you to hang up your jacket (I hope). I use this method or #1 with Zümïëz or VS.
A friend: This only works if the fitting room attendant leaves after helping you. Have a friend shop with you as you hold the decoys and your friend holds what you/they want and some decoys. Bring your decoys into the fitting room, and after you’re sure the attendant is gone (you can do this subtlely by trying something on and checking it in the mirror outside your room, or just looking out), text the friend to come in. Conceal what you both want and walk out with all the decoys. If anyone asks, you asked your friend for an opinion.
Feel free to add any methods you use! These are just the ones that have worked for me.
bonnie came up with this great idea. the hook fits perfectly into the space below, and you can barely see it even when you look directly into the case. i recommend this, so that if you ever get caught, they wouldnt bother to look in here. (just make sure the gum is still in it!

I really think we need to start calming down on our giant hauls honestly. The 1,500$ hauls from ulta and Sephora gotta stop soon because we’re destroying our own chances here. We’re forcing them to really crack down and make it impossible to steal even an eyeliner anymore. Honestly treating yourselves like this constantly is ruining the community and we won’t last much longer
Fuck yeah. Some folk have been saying this for ages. Even though Ulta and Sephora aren’t a thing in some parts of the world, their overseas counterparts notice this shit too and often adopt security measures from the US.
