it’s the embodiment of white colonizers 1) running off and colonization land that isn’t theirs and 2) also running away from the real world problems that they’ve definitely contributed to. several poc have expressed the issues with it.

if your ships are all white gay dudes, it’s fetishist and exclusionary of poc. it’s not “activism” to ship white cis mlm. if the people in all your art are white, it’s exclusionary. if you haven’t drawn someone dark skinned, it’s likely unintentional colorism. the same goes for whitewashing (making dark characters lighter.) rep and art of south asian people is a rarity, especially if it’s not a gross stereotype. wanting to live in a castle with your white vampire husband and his servants is elitist and grossly white as well, and shares aspects of white people running away from the problems they’ve caused. the servant part of it doesn’t need explaining. if you’re not clicking links and reading the things in the shit you reblog, you aren’t learning and are therefore partaking in performance activism. the same goes for supporting brands and media outed as racist, and inaccurately representing people of color. i don’t see what you’re missing nor do i understand why you had to add your unnecessary commentary on this post.
if what you consume is mostly or entirely white-populated, you need to change that. if you can pour hours of research into your fanfiction, or into your favorite character, or media then you should do the same for people of color. as much as media would have you believe, this is NOT an exclusively white-populated world.
