Still Growing - a zine about being young, feeling old + wondering what exactly an ‘adult’ really is - Volume 1
I’m kind of doing a thing that I’ve been wanting to do for a while now and I would love some of you to contribute to it if you want to! Open submissions for art / comics / poems / photography / short stories (below 500 words / articles based around the themes of:
What is an adult? - What growing up means to you
Staying young or growing old gracefully (or otherwise)
Failure - hitting the bottom and building yourself back up again
Funny things you believed / were told as a kid
The farthest you’ve ever been from home + why / what it was like
Cooking! Because adults know how to cook, right? Comfort food recipes preferred~
Embarrassing stories about mistakes you’ve made, preferably funny ones or ones that ended well in some way
It’s not rigid and it’s not set in stone, so anything based around the theme of growing up and navigating the terrifying and weird world of adulthood would be great. However you want to interpret it is up to you.
You will be fully credited by name or alias for ANY submission, with longer/larger submissions credited by name, photo and a link to whatever social media you want. You will automatically receive a copy for contributing, and also my eternal gratitude and general awe at how cool you are - I want this to be a proper collaboration, built up from a community of a range of ages and backgrounds. That’d be the ultimate goal, really.
I’m putting a loose submission deadline on this as 31st May 2015, but this may be extended. If you could email submissions to [email protected] with ‘Still Growing’ somewhere in the subject line that would be great, and feel free to send questions that way as well, or send them to me in an ask on here. If you don’t fancy submitting anything, I’d really appreciate it if you could reblog this post to your own followers and possibly see if they might like to contribute.
I’m really looking forward to seeing what you send over!
