for pride month I'm wearing a gay-ass shirt every day of the month
day one! (shirt from NerdyKeppie)
day two! yes, obviously I have both "Mr. Faggot" and "Mr. Dyke" versions of this shirt. it's like you don't know me at all
(shirt is also from NerdyKeppie. a lot of them will be)
day three! Middle-Aged Queers is a band out of Oakland and they are my favorite queercore punk band. go listen to their music. you're welcome.
day four! during the early pandemic the New York City Gay Men's Chorus ran a couple of virtual seasons, which were open to anyone. I started one of the virtual seasons before realizing I could not do another zoom meeting regularly, even for singing. they sent me the t-shirt anyway, which was nice of them.
day five! this shirt is also from NerdyKeppie and it rules
day seven six! we've already covered Middle-Aged Queers, so let's talk The Homobiles. The Homobiles is a peer-to-peer ride share service that precedes both Uber and Lyft and serves the queer community of the Bay Area, regardless of the rider's ability to pay. it is also "the bay's mainstay queer punk supergroup", according to the pull quote on their bandcamp site, and I believe it. The Homobiles features, among others, my beloved faggot dyke Unka Lynee and role model Lynn Breedlove, formerly of dyke punk band Tribe 8, which basically invented punk rock. Lynn founded both the ride share service and the band and is cooler than all of us put together.
a couple of choice quotes from Lynee, my fellow dyke who's also a man:
"I'm a feminist and I'm a dyke and I fucking hate men and I'm a man. I identify as a dyke and as a guy. People are pissed off about that because they want you to pick a side. Really, my choice isn't about you. I don't tell you to lop your tits off, and you don't get to tell me that I can't be a dyke and a guy. That is just as repressive as any of the bullshit that we're rebelling against." [source, 2005]
"I like to wake people up by turning concepts we take for granted on their heads, with goofy takes on what we like to analyze to death. So if people call me a freak, I’ll use it and defuse it just like we do dyke, fag, tranny, queen, queer, cunt, bitch, whore, and other phobic epithets. And then I’ll appropriate and spoof straight white male culture too, like I did in Tribe 8 by getting blow jobs onstage, especially from straight white non-trans men. That’s how I roll. I did have one guy try to console me by telling me I didn’t have to call myself a freak; I don’t need consolation! They can’t laugh at me if I’m not taking myself or them seriously. Camp is an empowering tradition." [source, 2010]
actually day seven! my friend @rachandroll made this shirt and it fucks severely. not sure if she's selling these anywhere at this point, but her Inprnt is at https://www.inprnt.com/gallery/rachandroll/ !
day eight! a recent one from NerdyKeppie. transphobes can suck my brand-new dick <3
Love it!!
