Tucker: I know. When they said we were getting a field trip in Gotham, I thought it would be a lot more exciting. Especially when they listed Wayne Enterprises as one of the tours.
Danny: Axion Labs had a better tour. All we've seen are hallways and closed doors
Sam: Don't forget the Wayne water fountain that was part of the original town hall of Gotham, before it burned to the ground and the fountain was bought out by the Waynes.
Danny: It was a fascinating twelve-minute wait for the small gush of water.
Tucker: Whats the tour guy saying now?
Danny: Don't know. Don't care.
Sam: Ugh, we should play a game. Make the time move faster.
Tucker: Sure, want to play Would You Rather?
Danny: We played that on the bus. How about Have You Ever?
Sam: We don't have anything to drink. Let's do Hot Seat.
Danny: Sure.
Tucker: Go head
Sam: Right, Danny, you're first. If you could sleep with any of the heroes in Gotham who would-
Danny: Red Hood.
Tucker: Good taste. Bouncing off of what Sam said, if you could sleep with any of the Waynes who-
Danny: Jason Todd.
Sam: You seem overly eager to answer these questions.
Danny: Is that a problem?
Jason: No I find it interesting
Danny letting out the highest pitch scream a man of 25 has ever made: !!!!!!
Jason: impressive set of pipes.
Sam whispering to Tucker: Is it just me, or does Danny have a shot?
Tucker whispering back: I think he does. They were about Gotham. Anything can happen here.
a lot of people dont care about insect biomass collapse bc when they hear we are losing 2.5% of the insect biomass per year they just imagine the cockroach and housefly population decreasing by that much. they dont realize those are among the only ones that will remain unbothered
every year of restoring native plants I see a great increase in the insect populations, and loads of new insects i never saw before (all of them harmless--the insects that are harmful or parasitic on humans are the main ones being unaffected by the decrease in insect populations)
(a large part of) the problem is Plant Sameness. we must restore plant diversity
☆ His irises looked like someone had pressed a handful of wildflowers into glass and called it a color. Green, but alive in a way that color usually isn't.
☆ Her eyes looked like someone had bottled the last light of a summer afternoon and let it go green. Not a color you could name. A feeling you could almost touch.
☆ Her eyes were the green of a secret kept so long it started growing roots. Something living in there that had no intention of leaving.
☆ His gaze looked like someone had folded an entire meadow into two small spaces and dared you to look directly at it.
☆ Her irises had the green of pressed botanicals in an old book, delicate and preserved, but still somehow asking to be somewhere wild.
☆ His irises looked like someone collected every shade of green that exists at dusk and couldn't decide, so they kept all of them.
☆ Her eyes had that green that doesn't quite translate, like trying to describe a forest to someone who has only ever seen photographs of one.
Danny dyed his hair white one day. His adoptive family thinks its teenage rebellion, but really his ghost side Has been acting up, so now he's got to commit to the bit
Bruce does a double take when Danny walks in. His newest son was much more reserved than his other children. He didn't like having attention on himself- unless it was the popular kids at school but Bruce thought that was just something every teenager went through.
Danny spent most of his time locked away in his room, playing video games, writing for his blog, and watching documentaries about space. He was the most normal and well-behaved ward since Jason, and Jason was so grateful for being able to go to school that he used to ask to skip patrol to do homework. Danny had no interest in getting into the life of crime fighting, despite his previous ghost-fighting days.
He mostly stopped the ghosts from attacking because there was literally no one else in Amity Park who could handle the ghosts. In Gotham, however, there were plenty of heroes who were trained and on top of whatever issues were going on. Danny saw no reason to jump in, despite the Waynes each taking time out of their days to give him training in thier respective areas.
Jason and Alfred were happy to report Danny was one of the best shots in the household, while Damian and Cass both agreed his hand-to-hand combat was his weakest point. Duke and Bruce were the ones who helped him the most with his powers, which Danny preferred to use and were his strongest.
Despite all of this, Danny only jumped in as Phantom if it was an all-hands-on-deck or a last-resort situation. He would rather live as a civilian, which was a huge load off of Bruce's and Dick's shoulders. His eldest had turned many young people away from the cape life, but he never managed to get his own siblings to agree. Danny was his first success story.
Danny had no problems in school. He was one of the top students- not the top, but definitely in the top ten. His teachers had nothing but praise for his insightful and well-mannered behavior. He didn't speak too much in class, but he wasn't dismissive of assignments, nor did he leave all his part of group work to his classmates.
Alfred was working on getting Danny's mannerisms and etiquette up to par for the elites, but he was easy to mold, willing to learn, and sort of natural when he was relaxed.
Danny didn't steal; he didn't drink or do any kind of drugs (Bruce knows; he had him tested. Whether that test was done with Danny's knowledge or not was no one's business). Really, the only issue Bruce had with Danny was his social life, but honestly? In a city like Gotham, having his son home, safe and sound, behind the best security money could buy, and the best of minds could build, was much more relieving.
He hadn't thought Danny was capable of rebelling.
Which was why his son, walking in with pure white hair, was so jarring. Bruce tried to find a way to tactfully ask about it-
Tim glanced up from his phone just as Danny was taking his seat and gasped. "What happened to your hair?
-but that was not how he would have done it. Thankfully, Tim always handled things he didn't want to.
Danny smiled, running a hand through his hair, unbothered by the horror that had slipped into the CEO'S voice."Felt like a change."
As he moved his hair, Bruce realized that Danny had gotten piercings as well. Not just one or two, but six, from his lobe to the top. They were small, tiny stars and dots, and one moon at the very top as a flat. Bruce's eyes widened.
That was... surprising because, in thier state, one had to have parental permission until one was eighteen to get piercings. Danny is sixteen, and Bruce had not given any form of permission. Where did he get those piercings?
"This felt right," Danny concludes, leaning back in his chair. As he did so, his shirt rose a little, and peeking from the small slip of skin was an ink image. Tattoos. On Danny's frontal hipbones.
Bruce felt faint.
Tim gasped, knocking over his drink when he sprang up, pointing at Danny accusingly. It was the most animated Bruce had seen his son in the past week, but this was obviously a worthy cause. "Do you have tattoos?!?"
The now white-haired boy smiled warmly, almost proudly, as he lifted his shirt to show off two strips of black and white galaxy-themed tattoos. They tilted from his hip down to his private parts and were honestly a masterful work of art, but Bruce was shocked beyond words.
None of his kids had tattoos. None. Not even Jason. Oh gods, Danny was never going to get a real job now.
"Where?" Bruce croaked, "Where did you get those?"
"Johnny did them for me." Danny chirps, letting his shirt fall back down.
"Who is Johnny?" Tim gasped, falling back into his seat like his heart was being ripped out of his chest and stomped on. He was ready for children. He had the you're going to put me in an early grave act down pact. Bruce was honestly impressed by it.
"He's my friend." Danny shrugged. "He's cool."
Bruce opened his mouth, but once again Tim beat him to the punch.
"Cool? Is it cool to be running around looking like a delinquent?!"
"Didn't you use to skip school to go skateboarding and then break into buildings at night for a photography session?" Danny popped his fork into his mouth, raising one eyebrow. Tim sputtered for a second, looking for an argument but falling short, so he turned to Bruce.
"B. Control your son!"
"I don't need controlling from a man who actively breaks the law. " Danny cut in. He swallowed the salad in his mouth before putting his fork down and raising his hands to create the distinctive bat ears of Batman's cowl on his head. Bruce felt like he'd been slapped.
Tim slammed a hand on the table. "You're breaking your father's heart."
Danny, sweet and innocent Danny, rolled his eyes at Tim. "It's not that big of a deal."
Bruce thinks his heart actually may have shattered. Tim glanced at him before facing the teenager at the table again. "You're killing your father."
"Good."
Danny continued his dinner, humming peacefully in the utter shock silence. He retreated to his room to continue playing his latest game, leaving two of the brightest minds in the Wayne household utterly stumped on what to do or say. It would take hours before either found the will to move, and that was only because Alfred got home from bingo with his friend to find the two staring at the wall.
(PJOxDC crossover, Enby!Jason Todd because it flowed better to my brain)
Bruce: “you say you love my child but i need to know that they have a good man by their side that will protect them from themself.”
Percy, being wholly honest: “oh I’m not a good man but I’ll protect them”
Bruce: “what? Are you saying you’re not a good person?”
Percy, not actually knowing the Bat thing(they just didn’t get around to it Yet): “you really didn’t think this through; good men are always limited by their morals, they have boundaries that they can’t cross- like- what do you think a good man will do if he saw on one side of a boat your child drowning but on the other side there was a family of four drowning too, and he only had one rope…”
Bruce, so so so many mixed feelings: *silence*
Percy: “he’d let them drown because for good people the morality dictates their actions. You see a hero will sacrifice their love to save the world; I would happily burn it all to the ground, trample it beneath my feet and piss on everyone’s graves with a smile on my face and sleep like a baby, as long as it meant they’d be happy.”
I blacked out and wrote this. This is so silly to me.
Enjoy!
Look Danny didn't mean to kill the Joker it was an honest mistake, he was still recovering from escaping the GIW and whatever they had used on him had still been in effect when he honest to Ancients ran into the fake clown.
Of course it doesn't look like an accident with how he left the Joker
But it was!
Really it really was!
Whatever the GIW did was out of his system, but that still left a very dead and coreless Joker.
Yeah...apparently Joker had a core, but not anymore because he ate it like it was pop rock candy, if the weird cousin spicy version of it. He still feels like he has some of it stuck in his teeth.
Anyways! Not the point!
Joker! Very dead at his feet, what is he supposed to do-
THUMP
Oh Ancients he's going to die again that's the Red Hood!
"Uh...I can explain, well not really. But it was an accident! I promise and-"
"You killed him?"
"I'm really sorry? He bumped into me, it was an accident I swear!"
"Go on a date with me."
WHa-what?! Did he just hear correctly why would he ask him out out of nowhere it made no sense and..oh.
Red Hood's been touched by Death not like him but enough to count, and enough to have some ghostly instincts.
Okay ghostly courting he can do that, he totally can, no sweat!
Shit who is he kidding he may have the instincts but he was never actually taught how he's supposed to use them or anything.
Well he's always been good at making it up as he goes, and at least his instincts will help push him in the right direction.
So he should just do what feels natural to him.
"Yes I'll go out with you. If I were to make jewelry and knives out of his bones would you accept them?"
"...For me to wear and use. Yes."
~
Danny freaking out about just killing and kinda eating someone: I'm in so much trouble!
Jason behind him fixing his appearance: "Well hello there handsome come by here often?"
~
Joker bumping into Danny: "ahAHA you will make a good experiment!"
Danny is high as a kite and getting the munchies: "I didn't know I could order food with my mind!"
Joker: "Whut-"
~
Jason seeing Danny absolutely wrecking Jokers shit: *Ghost Instincts Activated*
~
Jason falling fast for Danny without even knowing his name: "Can I pretty please kiss you?"
Danny realizing what's going on but still being clueless: "Does that mean you will accept these gifts made from Jokers bones?"
Jason's Ghost Instincts rising to a fever pitch: "I'm going to woo the fuck out of ya and then we'll get married then we'll fu-"
~
Danny's Ghostly Instincts being connected to his 'Protection' & Jason's to his 'Revenge' showing these kind of specific gestures towards them is incredibly romantic.
~
Jason and Danny's relationship basically:
~
~
~
#They're like Morticia & Gomez absolutely smitten for each other
#Jason brings a crying & beaten up GIW who has been stalking Danny
#Danny almost swooned
#They start flirting with each other while standing on top of the GIW dude
#Jason's goons are happy that their boss found 'The One' apparently but can they please stop eyefucking each other while they're there and-
some people seem to think aotearoa new zealand is just fields and hills and grass. maybe some mountains. maybe a fjord or two. which is so fascinating to me because we have so many different biomes and landscapes it's bonkers.
we have massive volcanic fields. we have native palm trees and mangroves up north. we have huge swaths of geothermal areas that have geysers and bubbling hot mud and multicoloured pools. we have dense temperate rainforests. we have fern trees that grow ridiculously tall. we have huge tussock grasslands. we have a freezing cold desert. we have huge black sand beaches. we have sand dunes that stretch for kilometres. I love you aotearoa. this isn't even all of it these are just a few examples man
it's ridiculously beautiful and varied over here and yet when you say "new zealand", a lot of people imagine grass fields and sheep. which to be fair. we do also have. BUT STILL
#I have a suspicion that a lot of people think aotearoa is a lot smaller than it actually is #I think there's a tendency especially for europeans and east-coast americans to think of it as 'a small island off of australia' #which like #it's small compared to australia #but most countries are small compared to australia #aotearoa has a greater area than the entire united kingdom #it also spans about 15° of latitude #which is 50% more than england #and also more than any US state except Alaska
"off of australia" is also a bit misleading; the distance looks small on a map, but that's because your brain is comparing it to the entire pacific ocean on the other side.
sydney (eastern coast of australia) to auckland (nz north island) is a three hour plane flight.
EXACTLY!!!!! we stretch from florida to new york if you put aotearoa on a map of the US. it's like saying "japan is a small island off the coast of china" to me
ok so, I approached my local library with a proposal to donate a mural as a way to A: build portfolio/gain practical experience and B: give back to a beloved public institution. The director was very enthusiastic about it and i've been working on it since the beginning of March. Come with me as I endeavor to paint what is in all honesty an excessive amount of birds
I wanted the birds to look like they were actually in the space so first thing after doing the draft was to do a lighting study
after that I covered the walls in letters in lieu of a projector/vr headset bc i have neither of those :) Then i take a picture of the section of wall and superimpose the lineart over top of it so I can pencil in the lines
et voila
and that was a whole week on it's own so next comes the paintin' >:)
to anyone in the areas impacted by the wildfire smoke, my #1 biggest piece of advice as someone whos been dealing with wildfire smoke in the NW united states for years, is build yourself a Corsi-Rosenthal Cube
they perform as well as expensive HEPA air cleaners, and are comparatively VERY inexpensive. all you need is a box fan, 4 air filters, a piece of cardboard, and some duct tape!!!!
i think it took us maybe a half hour to put ours together, if that, and we replace the filters every 3 months. it's really made a HUGE difference, both when the air quality is bad, but also with our allergies
where i am, a box fan and the filters run about $20 each, so if $100 is too much of a stretch at the moment, get the fan and one filter. tape the filter to the intake side of the fan, all the way around. this is also good if your space is small and a 20" cube won't fit.
Danny: *barges into Tim's office, obviously furious* Okay I'm done with you ignoring me and treating me like I'm a charity case. I'm supposed to be your partner, not your pretty arm candy you only talk to when you flaunt to your buisness partners. I want a divorce.
Tim: *blinks in surprise before leaning into his phone* Uh Tam...when did I get married? And what did I do to ruin it?
Danny: *looking around* Oh my Ancients I'm in the wrong office! I am so sorry! *starts to leave only to back track* By the way your security kinda sucks. I stormed in here, obviously angry, and not once did anyone try to stop me or search me for weapons. I work for a security and bodyguard buisness, I'll leave my card with your assistant if you want to hire more competent gaurds. Sorry again for barging in like that! *leaves, politely shutting the door*
Tim: Tam I need that buisness card, and I need to know everything about that man!
Danny wasn't sure what to think when he received a care package--what the fuck?--filled with referrals of divorce lawyers, some pamphlets that Danny had never heard of.
And all from Tim Drake, the CEO of Wayne Enterprise. The one he barged into like yesterday.
"Why is a billionaire trying to help me break up with my husband?!" Danny said to no one, still in disbelief.
This was his fault, Danny knew. If he didn't put a foot in his mouth...why did he even blab about his personal life in front of his partner's boss? That just sounded pathetic. Hello, this is Danny about to get divorce. Nobody liked to hear about divorced guys. Yet he just slapped his card like he hadn't embarrassed himself.
"I probably should write a letter 'Thank you but please don't look into my possible divorce'," Danny muttered.
...
"Tim, what's this I hear about you going after a married man?" Steph's voice boomed at the Batcave, to Tim's horror, and he watched as his siblings shot him looks.
"You're falling in love with a married man?" Dick sounded almost disappointed at him.
"Damn. I didn't know you're a homewrecker," Jason said.
"He's getting a divorce," Tim insisted.
"Tsk."
Tim stood there, gaping at the court order. He's being sued for alienation of affection (otherwise known Homewrecker" lawsuit)
Jason whistled, peering over his shoulder. "Damn. Replacement."
Meanwhile, Tim was still spluttering. Utterly speechless. "B-b-but? How? Who still files this thing? I don't think it's even legal in this state."
(It isn't, Tim had checked)
Jason was too delighted. "And it says here, Timothy Jackson Drake-Wayne, had knowingly and maliciously--"
"Oh my god, Jason--"
"--In a hostile workplace. The defendant engaged in conduct that intentionally interfered with the marital relationship…|
Tim buried his face in his hand.
"--Plaintiff suffered loss of consortium, affection, and companionship."
"ITS NOT EVEN LEGAL IN NEW JERSEY!"
"One day, when you two have children, can I tell them this is your meet-cute?" Jason perked up. "You got sued by one of your employees--"
Tim didn't even want to think of the ramifications of this with the tabloids and how it would affect the company. His reputation in ruins.
"I can't believe I am being sued. And by this!"
"How pathetic," Damian sneered. "I can't believe you have brought dishonor on our family. Father will be very disappointed."
"Homewrecker," Jason sang along. And Tim wanted to strangle him that he was not. a. homewrecker. This was widely a gross misinterpretation of events!
"For the last time, Danny's getting a divorce!"
"I mean, you met Danny, who was in a vulnerable emotional state--"
Tim would hardly call their first meeting "vulnerable". "Nothing actually happened between us!" he defended himself
"You better countersue for defamation, Drake," Damian narrowed his eyes. "I will not allow our family reputation to be reduced to this 'romantic misconduct'." He sneered at the end
"I'm calling my lawyers," was all Tim could mutter
Tim Drake Wayne didn’t become the CEO of a multi-billion-dollar conglomerate by letting people walk over him. Especially not in the courtroom. While he might be a disaster in his personal life (as evidenced by the "Care Package for Divorce" he’d sent Danny), This whole mess was unfolding on his home turf.
The conference room at Wayne Enterprises was freezing. Tim sat at the head of the table, dark circles under his eyes and a third espresso in his hand. Across from him sat his legal team, a group of people so shark-like they practically bled salt water.
"Let’s review," Tim said, his voice flat. "An employee-" he puts a picture down of the man. "-who is this man's-" followed by a picture of Danny, "-soon to be ex husband, is suing me for 'alienation of affection' in a state where that hasn't been a valid cause of action since the mid-20th century. He’s filed it publicly, leaked it to the Gotham Gazette, and the headline currently reads: CEO OR HOMEWRECKER?"
"Technically, Mr. Drake," his lead counsel, Mr. Harrow, noted, "the lawsuit is frivolous. It will be thrown out by a judge before the week is over."
"Being thrown out isn't enough," Tim snapped, the exhaustion of the week's jeering and pestering from his so called siblings finally bubbling over. "He’s smeared my name. He’s implied I used my position as CEO to coerce a marital breakdown. It’s affecting the stock, and most importantly... it's a lie."
He leaned forward, eyes narrowing. "We aren't just defending. I want a counter-sue. Defamation, libel, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. He knew the 'alienation' claim was legal fiction, he filed it specifically to damage my reputation." Damian had gone out of his way to mention all this to Tim in his own bratty way. And Tim can't even be upset, cause he can clearly tell it's coming from some place of actual concern. Even if neither of them will ever admit that out loud.
After that comes the Confrontation.
The legal "hit" was delivered two days later. Tim wouldn't go through this process in the shadows. Instead he had the papers served to Danny's so called husband right in the middle of a high-end restaurant where the man was ironically celebrating his "upcoming settlement" with a friend.
The fallout was immediate. Tim’s lawyers didn't only bring the facts, they brought a digital trail that would make this man regret ever starting this crap in the first place.
Exhibit A: Proof that the marriage was already in shambles long before Danny stepped foot in Tim’s office.
Exhibit B: Text logs of the husband bragging about "taking the billionaire for every cent" using a "dead law."
Exhibit C: The business card Danny left which was proof that the interaction was a professional solicitation for security services, not a clandestine tryst.
And then the Settlement… or well, the lack thereof.
A week later, the husband was dragged into a deposition. He looked significantly less smug now that he was facing a defamation suit that could bankrupt him for the next three lifetimes.
"I... I thought it was true," the husband stuttered, sweating under the fluorescent lights. "He barged into the office! He said he wanted a divorce right there!"
"In the wrong office," Mr. Harrow reminded him coolly. "To a man he had never met. And your response was to tell the tabloids that Mr. Drake had been 'pursuing' your husband for months. That is a demonstrably false statement of fact."
Tim watched from behind the one-way glass in the observation room. His phone buzzed. It was a text from an unknown number.
Danny: I heard about the countersuit… I am so, so sorry for the mess. I didn't think he'd actually try to sue you.
Tim’s thumbs hovered over the screen. He should be professional. Overstepping is what got him into this circus in the first place… but, it's Danny.
Tim: It’s fine. I'm paying my lawyers for a reason, and this is just another Tuesday for them. But to be honest? it's usually until after the first date before I get sued for someone's marriage ending.
Is that too forward? that's probably too forward, Tim can feel his ass getting blocked.
Danny: Is that an invitation? Because I think I owe you a dinner. Or at least a very good bodyguard for free for a while. Ancients know you could use one what with all those damn paparazzi vultures circling you because of all this.
Tim felt a rare, genuine smile tug at his lips. He turned back to the glass, watching the husband’s legal team practically beg Mr. Harrow for a settlement that involved a public retraction and a permanent NDA.
"Retraction first," Tim muttered to himself. "Then date."
He might have lost his reputation for a week, but the turn around on this particular disaster was starting to look very promising.
#why did Tim share a picture of Danny with his legal team?#because he's very pretty and cute and everyone should see him#and i guess he's also sorta involved in this case but it's mostly for the first reason#dpxdc#pre Dead Tired#danny fenton#Dead Tired#savwrites
