idk i would personally rather give up access to certain products seasonally or locally than have people enslaved to give me the ability to have any product any place any time. i think i can go without tomatoes in january.
Think how much tastier the tomato will be, when you can only get it in season (in part because then you don't breed for 'does it travel well' instead of taste).

Like, Grace is in the bathroom, shaving, the curtain pulled to the side and suddenly he stops and says "stop touching my stuff". Rocky, frozen, somewhere behind him, can't fathom how Grace sensed that. He was so quiet. The razor is so loud. Grace's still facing away from him. What the fuck.
Grace repairing some panel or other and asks for a tool. Without even turning around, he says "no, not that one, the one to its left". Rocky's like are you shitting me. I know for a fact your hearing is ass. You can only see in one direction and I'm not in it!! What?!
Thinking about how unprepared for the effects of light rocky is is so entertaining

Look, if someone was very irresponsible they'd look up drone parts and buy a set of 2.4GHz and 5GHz directional antennas (yagi or, not patch) and then get a set of 2.4GHz and 5Ghz noise generators (illigal almost everywhere) or look up how to make them (weirdly easy to do apparently) and then they would wait for the display to start and turn on their contraption with the antennas point towards the display. Because the drones would be communicated to from the main computer on either 2.4GHz or 5Ghz, a contraption like this would cause anything from a section, to all, of the drones losing communication and automatically landing. The fact that they waited until the display was in progress means that all that set up time would have been waisted so the rest of the show can't go ahead and they'll have to spend a few days checking everyone over.
Don't do this. it's very illigal to make a jamming device. Even though you'd be using a long range antenna so youd be safely far away and almost totally undetectable even to people beside you, especially if you hid it in a bag or small box. It's very illigal. Don't.
So fun fact microwave transformers are incredibly dangerous and run at 2.4GHz

Resteraunt servers have the funniest and most surreal workplace stories of any profession. They have the job that mean nurses think they have. The entire world is working against them the entire shift. And then you feel terrible for laughing. It’s not funny that you tripped and spilled an entire ice tea all over a toddler and the kid started screaming at the top of his lungs. Nobody was having a good day, thank God it wasn’t a hot coffee. That’s not funny. I did laugh so hard tears started rolling down my face when you recounted this mortifying ordeal though.

i miss when subscriptions didnt really exist and you could just pay one time to buy an app or some software, and then just.. have it. without ads. without recurring costs. without more paywalls. it was just yours forever.
Apparently there’s a “kids shouldn’t be allowed in grocery stores” thing being spread on TikTok because they might scream or run around and look yeah that’s annoying but at a certain point you’ve gotta just put up with kids being a little annoying in public. Sure the kid pouring milk in the isles is the fault of a shitty parent and should be asked to leave, but a single mom with an otherwise controlled by crying toddler isn’t doing anything wrong. I think you’ll live if someone’s two year old starts screaming in their arms in isle 3. It might be annoying but that mom is probably having a worse day than you
Also, is a lot of the Internet just, unclear on the thing where you learn how to do stuff by doing it? You know what you get if you don't let toddlers into the grocery store? School age kids who don't know how to behave in the grocery store, which is worse. Don't let them in either? Teenagers who don't know how to behave in the grocery store, which is much worse. Just ban all minors from the grocery store? Now you have adults who don't know how to behave in the grocery store, and at that point we may as well not bother with society.
Toddler in the grocery store is learning:
How to find items in space that was organized by someone else
How to share narrow or complex walking spaces with strangers
How to operate in a space full of things they can touch and maybe even pick up, but don't own
How to peacefully coexist with strangers in a public space when everyone is doing their own (similar but separate) tasks in the same place
What kinds of food exist
How to tolerate having nothing in particular to do in a high stimulus environment
How to wait in line
How to greet a cashier and complete your transaction nicely
How to pay for things in a store
Most of this they are learning just by following and watching their adult(s). They're also, and this is especially important for families who don't take much public transit, getting to see a broader cross section of people than most other age appropriate activities will readily show them. The only other public place of this sort that a toddler might routinely go is the library, which is different in ways that are potentially instructive if you have only existed for 30 months.
Sorry to my followers for immediately reblogging this again but I just wanted to add a thing my mom told me a couple days ago, which was that some HEBs (Texas's dearly-beloved grocery chain) have started stocking miniature shopping carts for kids, and on a recent shopping trip she saw someone in there with a little kid with his own cart AND his own list, being shown by his parent how to find things on the shelves and get them into his cart.
This is brilliant because not only is it a really great learning experience for the kid, but it also gives them a series of fun tasks to focus on so they're not bored out of their skull and likely to act up. Most kids love the chance to do "grown-up things" and get praised for it, so this is very effective teaching.
I really hope that catches on more.
Kids belong in public! In grocery stores, on planes, in restaurants, in malls, even at the movies if the movie is child-friendly. We can't raise the next generation to be insulated from society and then ask why "kids these days" aren't more social.
Also, the "shopping cart" idea is really cute!
