''Doesn't know what it's like to receive love''
Sweetie are you okay? You rebloged doesn't know what it's like to receive love 14 times today
glassbeach.band
Ramble time but I think it's suitable considering how many friends I've gotten into the band
glass beach's music has been there for me through some really really tough times and their music is emblematic of hope, honesty, queer safety, and just being so fucking real and relatable. Moderating a trans space for people in my city here in Aus, I see so much love for friends who go through all the pains you'd expect, and both albums help me both process that and also remind me how to show that love and support for my community.
My first girlfriend (my "good ex") and I would sing the self titled song to each other in our worst moments and I think in some part that is why we're both still here today. We're still friends all this time later. Plus, after over a year of couchsurfing very recently, it especially reminded me of the love and patience my two best friends gave me over that period. We'll always live like we're hopeless kids.
commatose stands as my all time favourite song, on my all time favourite album, and it got me through the aftermath of my "bad ex" as well. She's out of my life now and it now being just about two years after things got inimate there, I'm ready for whoever is next for me, and I will be listening to all the music throughout too.
I think this is the ending the band deserved, I think in general in creative industries that more projects deserve a known finish to them and, and I say this incredibly bittersweetly, after making two of the most important albums anyone whose heard them will ever experience, tying a bow off feels right, again, valuing the existing art. I've considered getting a tattoo based on the Creatures of either album cover and hey maybe I go do that at some point now, who knows though
I'm heading out tonight to spend time with one of my best friends at a place we like that's closing down soon too, and afterwards I am going to relisten to both the albums as I've done hundreds of times before and take it all in. Not being American I couldn't go to any shows myself (living vicariously through a friend genuinely did wonders though, much love to my friend Brook), this outing tonight I hope fills that gap a bit. The plastic death glow vinyl stands beautifully in my collection, and hopefully I can pick up the tfgba vinyl at some point too.
For those who haven't listened to their albums, please do so. I wouldn't have written all of this if I didn't believe full heartedly in this haha
Thank you J, Jonas, Layne and William so much <3 <3 <3 <3 What you all have going on sounds brilliant and I am excited for all of you to blossom further. You've all shaped lives to be better and I hope you all get what you want from your endevours from the good karma you've all collected these past seven or so years.
Much love, Catie <3

This is goopie now. Feel old yet?
do you think that in 17776 europe is doing the same thing as america but with soccer (football)?
I’ve watched videos of long distance dribbling a ball before and actually that could be such a fascinating game.
Like the canyon game from the original story just because it’s like. “Okay I have to get past this mountain and there’s someone after me. So I’m just gonna see what happens.” And then they punt the ball as far as they can up the mountain trying to get it to roll back down in a convenient spot. And I imagine the soccer balls are able to be absolutely sent (see the improved running speeds in the original story) so there’s a chance it really ends up somewhere different. And instead of end zones like in American football, you get goal posts, but in the classic 17776 way, supersized. Like the goal is a big net strung up between these two buildings in some random town or whatever. And teams might be larger too so you got like three goalies instead of one a side but then just swarms defending the goal. And you have to do some crazy kicks just to try score a point.
Also if this was in the UK then farmers would be getting in the way and shit still and I think that’s kinda funny as hell.

I’ve scheduled this post for when it hits midnight in New York, could’ve done Denver but I dunno I think about the New York City chapter a lot.
We love JUICE don’t we. Whilst he is full of whimsy and hilarity and french-ness, I always appreciate his wisdom so much. I chose this quote because it harbours back to the infamous opening page for the story, but the lunchables ramble was a contender!
I love this story so much. I hope for better times for all of us. Let’s play some football.
Please read 17776. Yes I've copied this from my first post. Because you should read this.
The quote for ease of reading:
"We were always at the end.
It's a free play, buddy. Clock's all zeroes.
It's after the end of the world."
It's after the end of the world. [UTC+10, 07/04/02026]
The day is here in my timezone. I immediately told the best friend of mine that has read 17776/20020 that I love it ( @i-would-like-a-sword-pls can't wait to be a part of the bulldozer together! <3 ) and asked multiple other friends if anyone wanted to play some football.
At some point I hope to do a write up about how important the story is to me. But very, if that helps paint a picture.
I've been waiting for this day a while, this quote especially is my discord status right now. It's a story written about a hypothetical, and although my health isn't in great shape, it does still give me a level of hope. I don't really mind what happens next, I just know I will be living it in one way or another for eternity with friends.

32 hours remain on the board [UTC+10, 07/04/02026]
I've been getting a lot of friends into 17776 and 20020 lately, with a recent push in particular for The Day. This quote in particular I found particularly touching, in the same way I find Nine very relatable. Feeling lost in the universe, with not much energy, yet staying curious is what matters.
To be a bit personal, chronic fatigue and pain have been kicking my ass for a while now, especially the last few years, and with 7 April around the corner, I think people who have read the ending of the first story can see why I appreciate it so much. The world will still be there for me even if I have to rest for a while, my friends will make sure I will be okay, they love me and I love them.
Artemis II's launch also inspired me picking this quote. Granted, it's a return trip, but it still felt fitting.
Please read 17776. Okay the quote is from 20020 but still please please please
The quote for ease of reading:
"There are so many unknowns.
You shove something out there into the horizon, so far off you can't see it. You have no control over where it goes.
You just hope it finds its way."
