Aigis and Mitsuru spending Christmas Together (Official Persona 3 Cogito Ergo Sum Comic Anthology)
Finished 2 chapters this week! I mean to be fair, this chapter was somewhat easy to edit since there weren’t many sound effects or screaming or anything difficult. Although this might also be because I’m improving in editing heh. And I still think the chapter itself is amazing! It’s centered around Aigis and Mitsuru, but I still think it’s sweet (although I know it has no Shinjiro, but I learned to put my bias aside and actually start translating stuff that aren’t just Shinjiro related). Anyway, enjoy! —————

i’m so glad to see that other people starting to push back on the “Suselle lacks depth and doesn’t have any interesting drama to explore” thing because good god what a blatant fucking lie lmao
Noelle’s sister is probably the Knight and Noelle’s mother is DEFINITELY involved with the Knight, and there’s nothing interesting to explore there. Noelle has been built up as having a really contentious relationship with her mother (the same mother who is involved with the Knight) where she defers to everything she says and Susie has been set up to be opposing her mother in some way in the future, and there’s nothing interesting to explore there. Noelle was initially attracted to Susie because she was intrigued by how intimidating and fearsome she came off as but Susie wants nothing more than to hang out with her friends and be treated like a normal kid, and there’s nothing interesting to explore there. Susie has declared that she wants things “to never end” and Noelle has been forced to live for years in a house where everything has been metaphorical “frozen,” and there’s nothing interesting to explore there. there’s an entire alternate route where Noelle is manipulated into being a living weapon who casually kills the same Darkners that Susie has come to care for, behind her back, by their mutual friend, and the same fanbase who brought you theories like “Papyrus Knight” and “Friend Inside Me” will look you in the eye and say “ehhhh i dunno there’s just nothing here to explore besides Noelle stuttering about Susie”
See also the irony of a large part of what we even know about Susie's character and her past coming from Noelle's blog posts about her, she has been observing Susie for so long, she has made note of the Susie's lack and her shame, she has been one of the earliest people to say 'I do not believe she is as bad as people say she is', all that lore people readily pick up for Susie to use elsewhere didn't just drop down from nowhere those are accounts by Noelle.
Susie's association with the 'good kind of scary' to Noelle, the Dess-Susie parallels, Susie's view of Noelle being completely based on one act of kindness, the push and pull between keeping up the illusion of the dream and wishing Noelle could be let into her world too even as that world gets more dangerous - they've already been so intermingled as characters before the story begins and every new plot beat complicates them more. Susie is a have-not who have been told time and again she isn't good enough and kept out of the good things in life, Noelle is the "top shelf" popular girl who represents all those good things in life, Noelle shows signs over and over of being repressed and dealing with trauma through forgetting and hiding it away in memory, Susie has growing arcs of confronting shady business head on and hating when things are kept from her, there is almost too much to explore with these two, and people do explore similar things in other pairings.
Excuses excuses
I kinda hate the way the fandom treats Susie. And it’s in general, not just after the recent chapters
Susie is also a self-sacrificial teenager in a suicidal way, Susie has her own problems, Just because she’s more humorous a lot of the time it doesn’t really change that part of her character
Gaster IS a Pirate.

susie is so absolutely fucking Not Okay.
i already posted about her dialogue in the gerson fight, but for the purposes of this post i'll put it here along with the fountain dialogue.
THIS. this is why she's seemingly reverted back to being sillygoofy. it's a facade. she is shoving her emotions down and trying to be the rock for ralsei and kris to lean on.
she's trying to preserve the good times, should they get ripped away by the final prophecy. to have something good to look back on, in case the worst case scenario comes and she (likely) has to sacrifice herself. which...
... seems all too likely.
she reassures her friends that they will find a way to break the prophecy, and gerson encourages her to as well, but. does she really, truly believe she can?
she boldly and brazenly stated her intention to take noelle with her to the festival in chapter 4, but i believe it was the final prophecy that gave her the motivation to finally, really, pursue her affections for noelle. it could have just been a cute date, a fun teenage memory to look back on...
... but what if her time's running out?
what if she can't stop the final prophecy from happening?
she needs to tell noelle how she feels...
... before it all comes crashing down.
(side note: susie's sprite looking down here strikes at my heart every time.)
