finally got around to doin one of these lol
wtf should i animate now,,,
got a canon realistic fuinjutsu naruto au:
he gets into fuinjutsu bc storage scrolls would be INCREDIBLE for pranking.
and thanks to his healing from the ninetails, he can explode himself as much as he wants without reprecussion.
so we get a fuinjutsu!naruto au where he bulldozes fuinjutsu in the most ill advised manner possible: trial and error with exploding paper

like, sorry for the complainer spam but the capitilist obsession with hyper efficiency is what is ruining the creative industries, especially animation and gaming.
there are multiple design and production ethos that are skewed by capitilist ideaologies, such as sanitising content to be as easily digestable to all for more revenue, and of course, the obsession with churning out content quickly for again. revenue.
this shit is old news but it truly is this obsession with 'number go up' (lee mulligan, Variety GMs 23:15) that is the most detrimental to art.

the good thing to come of the corporate obsession with being sacks of shit is the waves of independent projects. like yes, screw the industry! art is the language of people, and if the industry doesn't want our voices then my fucking god will we carve a place for ourselves!

While ai is definitely being used in some capacity in other games, I’m still holding out hopes for Layton because there’s been no definitive evidence/talk of it being in nwos and Nintendo is anti ai so hopefully they wouldn’t let lvl 5 put it in the new game
i'm really hoping thats true. i wont make any final judgements until more information is released and the game itself is out. a lot of my complaints come from my perspective as an (aspiring) professional animator/creative, and i have a lot of unprocessed resentment about it. especially since my graduation from university aligned pretty much perfectly with a more mainstream usage of gen ai in the creative industries.
i've come to the understanding recently that the only works i can ever fully trust will be my own. im a cynic by nature, and its easy for me to identify the problems connected to the things i enjoy, which can taint my view of them. of course, nothing will ever be perfect nor align perfectly with my belief system, as such is the way of humanity. i'm just coming to the understanding that if i want a narrative to reflect the values and content i hold dear, i'll just have to helm that story myself.
long story short, don't take my criticisms too seriously. im just a lil hater (sometimes) with a penchant for philisophical dialogues lol idk what im talking about :P
not to get uber moral/philisophical in a fandom i've only just began to engage with outwith playing the games, but finding out that level 5 uses gen ai (there are debates on what part of the production process its used on, programming seems most the prevelant in discussion but there are some evidence that lends itself to writing and imaging) and well. hm.
considering what we currently know of new world of steams theming (techniglogical progression vs historical tradition it seems), it leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth.
obviously progressions does not equal bad, but you cannot divorce 'progression' from 'human consequence', and i wonder just how closely new world of steams narrative and ideaology will reflect that of level 5's current game design philosophy...
i dont know exactly how legitiamate the articles are, but its annoying nonetheless.

if op decided not to specify if the crime was matricide (the killing of one's mother) or patricide (the killing of one's father), why would op decide not to specify which parent was killed?

humans are space halflings. humans with the innate ability to humanise and attach themselves to non-human creatures. humans and their high emptahthy and cultural instinct of community. humans who prevail at medicine and cooking and communicating. humans who are spacecraft doctors, chefs and communication officers.
humans and their prospensity to care. humans fostering multi-species communities. human nature can be empathy, too.
i think that in a bsd x pokemon au chuuya should befriend mewtwo. so many paralells, shared trauma, and bonding opportunities.
im not well-versed enough w stormbringer to make any deep analysis, but what i CAN comment on, is that chuuya's natrural empathy would lend itself well to opening mewtwo's eyes to learning to trust humanity. and perhaps, seeing this non-human fellow expirment with emotion and autonomy may help chuuya grapple with his own humanity. idk.

THIS THEORY IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY CRITICAL ROLE CAMPAIGN 2 SPOILERS!!! SHOW ONLY'S SCROLL AWAY!!!
As a long time cr2 fan I am LOVING the animated series- its so so fun! And the very Essek-centric sideplot has had me thinking of our favourite floaty fuck.
I've seen people talk about how Essek is acting less evil in the adaptation than he had been in the campaign, and after rewatching an Essek redemption supercut, I kind of agree. Do I think this is a bad move on the shows part? No. They're running with less run time to communicate the deep establishment of a relationship that had stretched on for months between Essek and the Nein. Changes are very much needed to make the redemption work with less time. In order to establish a precedence for redemption, it is easier to communicate some level of 'good' within the character.
I do however think that Essek should be a worse fucker to communicate the depth of his moral struggles later in the narrative. I do think, though, that something might happen in the following episodes to establish Essek as a more antagonistic force in the story. I did some digging, and Verrat (the Orc general Essek's been interacting with) is not in any of the supplementary material for campaign 2. Not in the campaign nor source book. A completely new inception.
I think that Essek will kill Verrat in the next episode. There is no way that Verrat will let go of the fact that Essek betrayed the Dynasty, and Essek will make a choice that I think will have him fully devolving into the character the Nein first met in the campaign. A self serving wizard obsessed with the discovery of knowledge.
In order to preserve Essek's role in the story, which is too significant to the wider narrative to massively change, Verrat cannot be present. Giving Essek an ally within the dynasty such as Verrat would negate the Nein's role in his character development, and allowing Verrat to live as an oppositional force to Essek would massively displace Essek from his narrative role in the Kryn arc. Therefore, Verrat's role in the story will come to an end- to showcase Essek's descent into evil.
I believe that Verrat was written to be murdered. More than that, I think Essek will kill Verrat without the prescence of the Beacon, to further cement the terrible and evil choices he makes.
Like Taelisin said with Gustav's death, its Chekhov's gun. Gustav could not have lived in the show because he has no further narrative use. Verrat is similar. Except where Gustav is a broken gun, Verrat is a loaded firearm. He is far too involved and powerful to be allowed to live, lest he cause ripples that would fundamentally change Essek's entire narrative. So, he has to die.
