Also I think we need to get rid of the idea that therapy is just a paid bestie for you to vent at because like therapy is so much more than ranting to someone it's challenging your internal cognitive disconnects and replacing maladaptive coping mechanisms and a whole bunch of other stuff and involves you putting in as much work as the therapist but I feel like that part is lost on people

nobody has been bullied for being a nerd since like 1990 and star wars and superheroes and video games have been mainstream to the point of oversaturation for like 20+ years now and adult man babies still have a persecution complex. may divorce be with you
That’s not true.
You know who get bullied for being “weird” and “nerdy” (and “cringey”)? Neurodivergent people. Autistic and ADHD people with special interests and/or hyperfixations. Anyone who gets Too Excited or enjoys something too unironically.
You know who ABSOLUTELY does get bullied for having nerdy interests? Girls and women. (Sometimes by male nerds, but also by other, non-nerdy girls. Also non-nerdy boys. Really just about anyone)
I was in Jr. High in 2000-2001 and I knew guys who were nerdy (and, in retrospect, PROBABLY neurodivergent) who got bullied terribly for such heinous crimes as “Talking about a thing they were interested in”.
I was a fat, geeky, autistic, queer girl. Guess how well THAT went over.
Like, I’m on the same page re: that specific subset of male nerds who harp on it while being entitled assholes and simultaneously gatekeeping anyone else out of those hobbies. Yes, they need to get their shit together, and accept that people who aren’t straight, cisgender, white boys and men get to have stories about them, too, and stop acting like they’re entitled to a girlfriend.
But to say “Nobody has been bullied for being a nerd since like 1990″ is simply false.
