I'm Josey! I'm a 30-something tarot manifestation advisor, and witch. You can use any pronouns to refer to me. I try to treat others how I want to be treated. It is important to me to try and learn as much as I can about the world and the various creatures and peoples in it. I welcome anyone who wishes to cultivate curiosity and kindness into their lives.
On my blog, you'll find free readings on Fridays, pick a pile readings, monthly astrological readings, channeled messages from my deities, think pieces on tarot, metaphysical book reviews, daily positive affirmations, art and photography I enjoy, and other related subjects.
In tarot readings, I am thorough, honest, and try to always give actionable advice. I try my best to avoid feeding divination addiction, and to direct people towards seeking appropriate help when necessary.

What is Tarot Manifestation?
In a nutshell: ask not what will happen to you, but how you can make what you want happen. This method of reading puts the querent in control, rather than letting the metaphorical car of life drive itself.

You actually cannot skip to being good at a creative endeavour that you haven't put much practice into. You cannot trick your way out of the 'knows that your work is not what you want it to be but don't know how to improve it' stage by planning or reading or talking about it really really hard. At some point you just have to craft through it until your brain finds it's own unique way back to the 'everything I make slaps' stage and be prepared to start the cycle all over again. You just have to make that project you're excited about slightly less good than you want it to be. (Says this standing in a pool of blood and covered in blood and also coughing up a little blood)
start working out now. make that hair dresser appointment now. let your next meal be the healthiest you’ve ever eaten. move the furniture in your room right now. text that old friend or crush. make a new playlist. go on a run. open a window. it doesn’t matter what you do, no matter how big or small change is; change is change. and it will always, always, always help you to turn your life around and clear your head. it gives you that boost, that confidence to be a better version of yourself, no matter the impact it has.
hi josey! ur good friend carrot is here to offer herself as public sacrifice if you still need a sample reading for reference 🫡 but also i just loved the reading you did in new years for me, back then I'd asked about writing and publishing stuff and you gave me a lot to chew on. i am certain that jumpstarted some deeper thoughts on my broader life. You helped push my in the right direction... and recently, i was making certain Realizations...
the quick lore is that for my whole 20s I used to let myself rot away and just didn't care about living my life. but now that i made it to 30 somehow i've figured out a lot of reasons why i'm the way i am. It just makes me angry....... now I want to become a strong independent baddie but it's hard imagining a version of myself where i'm not a skittish herbivore 😭 and that apathetic version of me hasn't really left either, sometimes i'll lose all the fight and choose to rot again. but the anger is def new
idk can I ever be* like sukuna ???? (embody traits of badass punk mf, unbothered, unafraid, never bending the knee, not paralyzed by rejection) ... so basically like a buddha jkjk it's something to work on but also feels like a fake goal bc it just seems so unlikely that i'll ever make it to that version of myself 😭 in my big age i still feel like a clueless little kid and i fear that i will always carry that loser part of me. can the sukuna in my head please take the wheel sometimes tho 😭
Hi my good beautiful friend Carrot!
I'm so glad that my tarot reading on New Years was helpful to you! And, thank you so much for sharing with me. I could relate to a lot of this.
I think, it is a good thing to have a vision of yourself that you would like to live up to. In many ways, it can feel stressful and overwhelming when you compare yourself to that person. It comes up often when I do readings, but again I'm remembering Gotye's line from Somebody That I Used to Know: "you can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness." This is why it feels so easy to slip back into an old pattern- even if it's one we don't want to perpetuate anymore.
I say: don't be hard on yourself when that happens. Normally, people train themselves to become comfortable with something difficult. Someone might not enjoy going to the gym, for example, but after sticking with it and making it routine in their life, it becomes more enjoyable. And, what would happen if they suddenly stopped going to the gym? That person would probably start to feel uncomfortable, physically and mentally. Most likely, that would prompt the person to go back to the gym!
But, sometimes the place we spend our time isn't the gym. Sometimes it's a place that isn't helping us be who we want to be anymore. So, of course we want to leave that place. But it's been where we've been spending a lot of our time, and it is hard to not go back- to resume our routine.
It's just a matter of making the conscious choice to leave it, as often as you can, when you find yourself in it. Another line from a song I keep close to my heart: "I was thinking / I don't want to be alone when I'm sinking / but it's all I've ever known / I was thinking / That today would be the day I would change / But I woke up the same again."
What this means to me is this: if we want tomorrow to be different than today, we must make a conscious and concerted effort in the day to make that happen. It doesn't have to be in big, grand gestures. The journey of one thousand miles starts with a single step. A little choice that aligns with your vision of yourself, over and over again, will find you closer to where you want to be in a year's time.
Imagine yourself a caterpillar. It cannot be rushed into becoming a butterfly. It is not a bad caterpillar or a failure on the days it does not form its chrysalis. That happens only when the caterpillar is fueled up and ready for the transformation. It transforms when it decides it is ready to.
I don't know how much you know about caterpillars and their process of becoming a butterfly, but they essentially totally liquefy and become a totally new shape. It isn't like a fetus growing into a newborn, for example. They just become a blob. And somehow- through the will of the blob, perhaps, it becomes what it intends to be. A butterfly! 🦋
Whatever moves you to become a butterfly is sufficient. I think the whole reason stories exist in the first place is to give us people that we want to be like. I think, by wanting to be like Sukuna, you are simply participating in a tradition as old as humankind. That's beautiful, isn't it?
Because you wish to be like Sukuna, you already are. I think, then, that your Higher Self will be a good source to consult for your reading.
What message does your Higher Self have for you?
FERTILITY IN REVERSE
I felt called to draw from my Horror oracle deck. This card is in reference to the Wickerman, which I've not seen any version of.
This card being upside-down makes it even more disorienting. Off to one side is a terrified face, and superimposed all around him are a circle of people kneeling; what looks like Stonehenge; fish, rabbit, and goat people; and, a large effigy on fire. The person has a green dot on his forehead, and all these superimposed images contain green, which makes me feel like these are visions coming directly from his mind.
What do you do, when your own mind frightens you? You must make it a place hospitable to the types of thoughts and dreams you want to have. And I think part of that process involves understanding why frightening things are growing there now.
In gardening, sometimes bad habits lead to bad outcomes. If you keep getting slugs eating all your vegetables, for example, maybe it's because you've unknowingly and accidentally made it easy for them to come on in! The only way you can solve your slug problem is to understand what is attracting them, and the only way to get rid of them effectively is to understand what repels or mitigates them. And really, the only way you can do both of these things is to have an open and relaxed mind about yourself, others, and your circumstances.
The mind being taut is not always a bad thing. But, in order to really do something with it, we must learn to relax it. A bow and arrow comes to mind: in order to use a bow, you must pull the string taut. But, you can't notch an arrow on a string that's already drawn (unless it's a crossbow, I guess). In order to notch the arrow, the drawstring must be relaxed.
In order to launch your "arrow," your mind must be relaxed.
Doing one of these meditations each day for four weeks might help.
What do you need to know that will help you in relaxing your mind?
THE HERMIT
I am drawing from my Mind's Eye tarot deck. This card depicts a woman curled up and relaxed in a black orb, surrounded by an ocean of flowers. The flowers have eyes. The woman holds a lantern, a common image on this card.
The black orb is very reminiscent of an egg to me.
The message I'm getting here is that you need to create an "egg" for yourself. An egg is a place where you will be protected from the outside orld, where you are given the room and resources to grow.
This can be a place you go mentally to meditate, or a secluded place in the real world you choose to spend quality time with yourself. Allow yourself all the time you need in your egg, whatever version it takes. Prioritize egg time.
What will you get out of "egg time"?
TEN OF WANDS IN REVERSE
Recovery from burnout. And freedom from expectations. An egg cannot be made to hatch before its time, just as the caterpillar cannot be rushed into a butterfly. Making time for "egg time" will help you understand your creative process, and what hasn't worked for you. When you understand what isn't working for you, you will be able to shed this as waste and make room for something new.
At some point in time, an amniotic egg is going to have an allantois. The allantois is where the waste from the embryo is sent. Make sure that your "egg time" involves making time to shed whatever waste you've accumulated since your last egg time and out of yourself. Practicing this routinely will help you feel that you are not carrying such a heavy burden all the time.
A final message from your Higher Self...
TEN OF WANDS IN REVERSE + FIVE OF PENTACLES + FOUR OF WANDS IN REVERSE
I know, it appeared again. This really underscores that you have burnout you need to recover from.
We are what we choose to pay attention to. And Carrot- you need to pay attention to yourself! The way these cards are laid out, a person on the Five of Pentacles is literally looking the person on the Ten of Wands in the eye. And, in between them is a sun.
The second person on the Five of Pentacles looks away from the figures on the Four of Wands. Between them are tendrils of darkness. This tells me that you should be cautious of outside validation. It is, of course, awesome to receive it! Everyone needs a little love and recognition from our fellow man. However, we must also learn to give this to ourselves. If we only seek it in others, we are destined to be disappointed. Only we can really love ourselves the way we want to be loved by others.
You are enough. You are strong enough to face what makes you feel weak, and to advocate for yourself. You are capable of crafting a life for yourself where what other people think of you, and other outside influences, do not dominate you. And, you deserve to rest, recover, and grow. Always give yourself the light and grace you need to do that.
Thank you for reaching out to me, Carrot! I hope you'll find this reading helpful. 💛
