Do you have any Clarisse-centric recommendations? Would prefer if ships aren’t the main focus and instead it focused on her as a character and/or her platonic relationships to other characters and to camp.
Hey there! Here's what we've got...
Mothers & daughters by Potatosalad7
Percy didn't expect to end up in Arizona, much less at Clarisse's house or her mom's house but whatever, but when the gods lose something and demand you find it by teleporting you to Arizona you can't really decline Or Percy is in a quest, gets hurt, and somehow meets Clarisse's mom
Demigods Bleed Gold by Ravenclaw_Peredhel
The children of Camp Half-Blood are just that, children. Child soldiers pushed into a never ending war that they can never hope to win. But they are also the children of gods, divinity trapped in such fragile mortal skin. I just really like some good eldritch demigod content, okay? Don't sue me.
Funerary Rites by Ellinor
With Chiron now aware that the ill-fated quest resulted in the deaths of Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, and Grover Underwood, he looks for the burial shrouds for Percy and Annabeth, ones he had hoped to only burn with the return of the children as a celebration. He finds the shroud the Ares cabin made for Percy and is not happy about it.
Put Up Walls and Paint Them All A Shade of Grey (You Wished Them All Away) by juniorsized
Clarisse stopped caring about friendships when she was fourteen. She was too old to be so dependent on others anyway. And she didn’t get lonely like the others did. She was too focused on impressing her father for any sort of relationship anyway Or Clarisse's friendships (or lack of) before and throughout the first Percy Jackson series.
Clarisse's Journey to Get the Golden Fleece by @passingghostfriend
“Would you like some peanuts or chips?” “No. Thank you,” Clarisse answered, gritting her teeth together as she clutched onto the Golden Fleece in her lap. Thankfully, she didn’t get any workers demanding her to put it somewhere else. Because there was no way in Tartarus she would look away from the Fleece. But when the flight attendant came up with water bottles and soda, she took a water bottle to replenish her thirst. Or Clarissa doesn’t want the airplane peanuts. She just needs to get back to the camp before Thalia’s tree becomes even more sick.
We hope you enjoy! Leave kudos, leave a comment, and happy reading!

Once when I was in undergrad, someone described something as “problematic” in class and our professor was like, “That’s cool, but ‘problematic’ doesn’t really mean anything. It means that the thing you’re describing has a problem, and in and of itself that’s not bad. Art, especially, should always have problems, or else it’s not interesting and not art, either. It sounds like you’re trying to say that this is bad, but you don’t want to say ‘bad.’ Is that right?”
So from then on whenever one of us called something problematic, he would make us talk it out until we could name the “bad” thing we were hinting at. In this particular class, 7/10 it was some type of oppression, and the remainder was like, “I’m uncomfortable because this is very new/confusing/pushing boundaries that made me feel safe.”
Once we stopped calling things “problematic” and stopping at that, class got way more interesting and... we all had to say, like, “that’s racist” or “that’s misogynistic” or “ew capitalism gross” out loud, which a lot of us had never done in a classroom before. Or we had to be like, “Uhhh... I’m not sure what’s so bad?” and confront our own beliefs and that was maybe even more useful.
Anyway. Whenever I see the word problematic, I can’t help but think of this professor being like, “Good starting point, now let’s get specific.” I think when we have to commit to saying “that’s ___” it requires a lot more careful thought about the truth and impact and complexities of whatever we’re claiming. Sometimes there really is some bullshit afoot, and also sometimes it’s art, and it should be full of problems, because that’s what art is.

I am having thinky thoughts about Annabeth. You know that trope where Percy inherits some of Kronos's time powers when Luke dies? What if Annabeth inherits them instead? That's her big brother who just killed himself in front of her!
Why not give her more conflicting feelings in the form of his power lingering in her? Luke is dead, but his wish for her to grow safe and well is not. He killed Kronos and gave him to her in place of the one that promise he broke.
Kronos took everything she ever loved. But deep down, she fears that she'll need his power to keep those she loves safe. His power is a double-edged sword she hopes she'll never have to use.
When Percy goes missing, she reaches for Time with sinking dread.
"Yes, time is an easy power to misuse, but I'm Annabeth Chase, of course I'll only use it ethically and responsibly!"
the "rip ___ you would have loved ___" meme is inherently more fun with ancient characters. rip clytemnestra you would have loved morse code. rip theseus you would have loved the airtag. rip callisto you would have loved wearing shorts.
rip Icarus you would have loved parachutes
Rip Odysseus, you would've loved GPS and long range communication.
RIP Bellerophon, you would have loved bug spray for horses
Thalia waking up after being a tree and barely being able to move because of her body's disuse
Thalia needing to be helped to properly walk refusing help because she cant recognize anyone
Thalia needing physical therapy for a few months after waking up until finally regaining full control of her body
Thalia barely remembering stuff from before turning into a tree
Thalia forgetting people's faces and names, barely being able to spot Annabeth after waking up
Thalia needing to be explained over and over that Luke betrayed camp because she just cant believe It
Would've loved for being a tree to have consequences beyond "she's conveniently still an option for the prophecy"

Cute little rainbow heart for pride month tumblr but how about you stop disproportionally banning trans women and marking sfw queer posts as mature
a character being a perpetrator does not negate their victimhood and neither does their victimhood negate being a perpetrator. u can accept and reckon w both dimensions in ur analysis
there is nothing morally purifying about suffering or victimhood, it is not something that inculcates “goodness.”
one’s character has no impact on whether they were/are a victim or not, victim status is not something that is only afforded to the palatable.
it also does not = absolution.
ppl cant handle this in cartoons made for teenagers lets not get ahead of ourselves
HADES’ KIDS @kelolivr
(Stop being homophobic btw its notnice)
awww the like button turns into a rainbow when you press it! that's so cute...hey staff what's with all the trans women you keep nuking?
"Reyna is her own person, she doesn't owe Nico anything and has the autonomy to join the Hunt" and "Reyna joining the Hunt was a very poor writing choice" are two statements which can and should co-exist, actually.
What if Rick just made something unique like tolkien did? What if he just stopped making the same story about kids blaming actual deities for everything like ungrateful people and focused on a coherent story???
That's asking a LOT from Rick. He does not have the level of competence in writing to pull off half of what Tolkien wrote, even on a line-editing level.
To be fair, that's some very high expectations for any author, not just Rick. Writing like Tolkien did involves an amount of love, care, time and research that few are willing to spend into a single project. That few would even have at hand, I mean look at how busy our lives are.
Rick also would need something to say, which doesn't seem like it's the case. At least not since his first series was over.
As of now it feels like Rick is writing one word after the other out of habit, rather than because he has a message to send.
Smart call ignoring the second half of that ask but wow, is anon secretly Zeus saying that the demigods are ungrateful? I don't even know where to begin with that.
I saw this and immediately thought percabeth Like??? The underwater kiss??? The corresponding hair colours??
So i thought maybe it was an advertisement of the show but like the actors in the show dont look like that (walker has blonde curly hair) and also i can't read the poster because its in some other language
So what is it for???
Breaking out my German classes, let's see here...
"Your ??? Renews? {Itself} all 28 days. And therefore? Stays ??? For always. Believe {in yourself?} You are unbelievable. "
Okay now let's look up Haut, erneuert, trotzdem, and Berührungen.
"Your skin renews itself all 28 days. And regardless stays touching always. Believe in yourself. You are unbelievable."
Sounds like an ad for a skincare product. Any native German speakers, feel free to correct me!
