"You are no longer licensed to use the software," Adobe told them.
Friendly reminder that GIMP does pretty much everything Photoshop does, and it’s 100% free. Fuck DRM and the license culture, we have plenty of open source options available to us as a consumer.
Lightworks is a freeware video editor on par with Premiere
Blender is an excellent freeware 3D renderer, possibly better than After Effects
Lightzone to replace Lightroom
Inkscape to replace Illustratr
Audacity to replace Audition (I also received a free version of Pro Tools with my Scarlett Solo audio interface)
If Adobe is going to be greedy shitheads, then fuck ‘em. Don’t use their stuff. Freeware can be just as good, if not better, than Adobe CC.

oh jEEZ
I will keep saying this: GIMP sucks butts.
- Medibang Paint and Fire Alpaca for more cartoon style illustration
- Krita for painting
- Clip Studio Paint (not free, but often on sale and cheap even at full price) is better than PS for art and I’m about to cut adobe entirely. Even does some photo editing.
- Paint Tool SAI (again, not free but cheap) old but good, there’s a ton of hacked copies around too. Not hard to get for free.
- Open Tunez for animation.
I’m currently using Affinity Photo and it’s a great Photoshop alternative. One time fee only and it’s not really expensive, plus supports PSD formats. Free trial available too! Davinci Resolve for video editing is amazing as well! :)
Another great art program to include in the list is the completely free, no download, browser recreation of photoshop, Photopea! It has the potential/customizability to be as robust as a full copy of photoshop while also being perfectly accessible to anyone looking to just do some quick edits with no strings attached.
Also, heads up to anyone using it,
As of July 5th 2021, Audacity is now considered a potential spyware security risk,
so please approach it with caution and do some research on the situation as things progress.
If you want an alternative to audacity there’s Dark Audacity
hi! i few days ago, i discovered an online editor called photopea, created by ivan kutskir. this editor basically has all, if not most, of the features photoshop has, including their layout and overall design. photopea is free, unlike photoshop. for those who can not afford to get an editing software, or don't have a computer strong enough to download such heavy programs such as photoshop, photopea is an excellent alternative. as you can see in the following images, the layout is basically the same. if you're familiar with photoshop, or similar editing softwares, it will not be hard for you to grew accustomed to photopea. photopea is also available in more than 40 languages, making it really accessible. you can easily change the language by selecting the more tab. once you select it, you click on language. then, you select your prefered idiom.
photopea vs. photoshop.
i've never seen such a complete online editor as this one, so i encourage everyone to give it a try!
By the way, if you have/find a post (related to this blog’s content) that you’d like to share with us, you can send it or... idk, sending the URL so I can reblog it here?
Or if you think I could change or add something (tags, design, etc...) those suggestions are welcome too!
hey just wanted to give you a heads up that the website you reblogged recently to help with drawing people is INCREDIBLY racist. like it’s so awfully racist it’s unbelievable. Other people have explained in the notes, I would find you a link but the notes section crashes my app oop
Thanks for telling me
I deleted it, I had no idea
I reccomend checking out the notes on the post you reblogged with the site about "human phenotypes" it's an extremely racist site
Wow, we really can't have sh*t in this house
Thank you for letting me know! I deleted the post, I had no idea
ayo i found 2 pages with head angles of humans and animals, could be useful to anyone reading this

Small Tips For ClipStudio
I have some hours before work so I’ll use them to actually detail why I’ve found CSPaint to be so efficient for bastard-aligned painters who like to take shortcuts.
This will seem familiar to most of you guys, but this functions a little bit different from Photoshop. It turns everything you draw on the layer into editable curves, but retains the aliased smoothness of an ordinary raster layer. Practically a cheat to access the whole suite of amazing tools CS offers for lineart. Such as:
The vector eraser is The Best™. You can be as messy as possible and this tool erases the excess. One pen-flick and it’s done. Much faster than cleaning it up by hand. You can also tweak the settings of this brush to encapsulate more/less lines as you erase but that’s getting a little more involved. Anyway, last thing:
Maybe the only thing better than the vector eraser. There are multiple settings, but these three are the most handy. You can smooth wiggly edges, connect broken strokes, and tweak the width/weight to exactly how you want it. This also has a ton of settings you can play around with. It’s great!
There’s a lot more tools you can use, but you get the point! It’s a really good drawing program. I recommend it!
Anti-Aliasing in Clip Studio Paint
Okay, so today I want to talk about anti-aliasing in CSP because it’s kind of a lifesaver?
But also I have a super hard time remembering how to do it or that it exists so here we go.
Basically, anti-aliasing helps you color line art without going outside the lines. Here’s a gif of me coloring with my mouse so you can kind of get an idea of what it is we’re talkin’ about here:
So how do we do that?
First, select your line-art or sketch layer in the layer panel of CSP. Click on the little lighthouse icon at the top of the panel. When you click off there should be a little lighthouse on the side of your line-art layer! This icon means that is now a reference layer!
Step2:
Go into your brush settings and click Anti-overflow! Click “Do not exceed reference layer” to make it work, tweak the other settings till you’re happy. These are the settings I used in the example below to get a cleaner coloring style
Step 3:
Add another normal layer below you line art! Make sure it’s selected and color away! Here’s what it looks like with the settings above:

Calligraphy Tool in Paint Tool Sai Ver. 2
Oh great and powerful Gnome 2 things. 1. How has your week been? How's Toe bean? 2.Been looking for some more custom brushes to add to Sai so... like 👀👉👈 can I see what you use please?
My week’s been fine! Toebee’s been kind of terrible this week, i’m not sure if he’s feeling well.
Yeah sure! Have some brush settings! Just a reminder that this is for SAI VERSION 2 no one.
My brush ‘Oh Hello’
(I use it for sketching and sometimes lineart. It’s a nice brush to give a little texture sometimes)
My brush called Drips!
(good for sketching and drips. I used it to do the whisps in my recent shadow bonnie pride art)
My brush ‘Cheeks’!
(This brush is good for texture. I use it in the cheeks and also for rust/mold/blood detail. I used it to texture my recent withered bonnie pride art!)
These are the brushes that I use the most, but I have a lot more and if you guys want me to post more brushes that I use like my blending brush’s settings and my digital paint brushes, let me know!
