Animation breakdown of the shot I animated in the new Avbob Centenary advert. Super proud of the team and how the whole thing came out!

Another 3D bottle from the amazing Magic Bottles by Vera Velichko.
Switched to Maya 2017, but decided to stick with Renderman as I’ve already set up all my shaders exactly how I want them. I think for whatever my next project is, I’ll dive into Arnold then.
Pretty happy with the way this came out, didn’t work out exactly as I had hoped but still pretty good.
Something in my scenes are just driving up the RAM usage. Struggled to render out the particles, and only got them working when I rebuilt the particle system in a fresh scene. Can’t figure out what it is though. The render even crashed the bf’s machine that’s got 32 GB of ram!! So, something is definitely wrong.
Don’t know when I’ll be able to get back to this. Probably starting my new job on Monday (or at the beginning of next month), but I’ll be busy with that. Maybe I’ll find some time (and energy) to work on this every now and again.

Saw these amazing Magic Bottles by Vera Velichko and decided I wanted to try and recreate these in 3D.
So here’s the first one. Took about a week. Modelled in about a day, the rest was all texturing and lighting (also learning Renderman). The next one should go by quicker now that I’ve figured everything out...but I guess that depends on whether I am sticking with Renderman or switching over to Arnold which is now built into to Maya 2017.
Still want to do a full res render as this is only half res. But I need the bf’s machine, as mine is just not physically capable at rendering full res.

Trying to figure out some style frames for a project at work.
Cinema 4D + Octane
Having kinda of learnt how Octane works, I decided to try to model something a bit more complicated in Cinema 4D and render it out in Octane. Decided on this retro robot.
Maya’s modelling tools still feel a bit more robust than Cinema’s so some of the more complicated shapes were modelled in Maya and brought across to Cinema.
Modelled, textured, rendered in Maya, Cinema 4D and Octane.
Some renders done as style boards for a project at work, which then changed drastically going forward.
Modelled, textured, rendered in Cinema 4D using Corona.
More messing about with Octane.
Some more playing around in Cinema 4D, this time with the Octane Renderer. Just messing around with shaders and figuring out what everything does.
(Excuse the watermark. That’s the demo version for you.)
Another project I started in Cinema 4D to figure out how to use the program. Followed this tutorial: https://greyscalegorilla.com/tutorials/how-to-quickly-create-a-topographic-map-in-cinema-4d/
Which reminded me of the game Godus. So I decided to built my own Godus type world. What I really want to do is animate it going through a full day/night cycle (which I’m not entirely sure how to do) with water actually flowing through the river. Maybe with Bifrost? But I will need to investigate how that works too.
Recently started my new job, and had to learn an new program, Cinema 4D.
Followed this tutorial https://greyscalegorilla.com/tutorials/recreating-glass-sculpture-in-cinema-4d/
Pretty happy with the way it came out, having done nothing in Cinema 4D before.
Some clips from the feature film I was working on, Inside Job, during 2016 and 2017, working at the Flying Circus.
A combination of Mocap and Keyframe animation.
Clips from the TV series I was working on, Silly Seasons, during 2015 and 2016.
Personal project I am working on to do more practice in Maya and VRay. The original image (on the left) is by Matt Dixon, and on the right is my 3D interpretation.
Made with VRay and Maya
Progression of a project I am working on with Christopher Underwood. It started off as a tutorial on how to render in VRay and evolved from there. The project started off in 3DS Max and then we migrated to Maya.
