I have recently been told by a disparaging elder not to make jokes about twinks, because, among other things, "that word didn't exist when the bible was written."
Joke's on them! Assuming we're talking about the King James version, it did indeed exist. It's a verb first appearing in Old English meaning "to sparkle" or more rarely "to wink." It's used today mostly in its frequentative form, twinkle.
