Sat down tonight and reminisced on better times, easier times. There's so many things I could tell you about my Nanny. I could tell you how wonderful of a woman she was, or how much she liked her sweet tea. But I don't think I could ever find the words to sum up how much love and kindness she showed me through the years. I'd give it all to have one more day with her on the front porch like we used to before her disease took over. She loved us grand babies. She loved her children. And man, did she love my Pa. They were married for 69 years, head over heels the whole way through. I used to ask Nanny if I'd get that lucky one day. She was a woman of God and always told me how He was there. That I never had to cry out for help, but just say His name. She helped me understand my passion. I remember her telling me to never let anyone tell me I couldn't do something because I was "a Chaney and Chaneys do what they want". And to not wait around for the perfect time, because there never will be a perfect time. To just start now. So, Nanny, I'm starting now. I know you're at peace and the Lord is with you. I can't say I'm jealous that he took you because you're in a much better place than I am. But I'm going to miss you so much. It's going to be a hard Christmas without you, but I'm not going to beat myself up anymore, because I know you'd slap me for it. I'll see you again one day. I love you. Have that glass of tea waiting on me.

Mikela Rayne Johnson is one of the finest people I've ever had the privilege to know and call a best friend. She has seem me at the top of my game and drowning in deep waters, and supported me through either. When I'm angry and ready to throw a chair, she can talk my temper down in five minutes. When I'm happy and facing new opportunities, she pushes me forward. When I've been broken, she has held me until the dark skies passed. Next year will be VERY hard to live through without her presence, but she is moving on to bigger and better things and her hope will spread to thousands, I know it. I have all faith in your future plans and in you, Mikey. I hope that I can return as many favors as you've given me one day. You are such a beautiful person, inside and out, and I wouldn't change anything from the past four and a half years with you and the homies. You will always be my main braj <3
