Guys!! Help me find a Kwei x reader short story that I cannot get out of my head or find for the life of me after I forgot to like it. What I can remember from it was Thia, Dek, reader, and Kwei were investigating a building they found on a planet, and reader and Kwei started to bicker with each other, and Dek told them to get a room, I believe. Then near the end of the story, Reader and Kwei meet up together to talk, but things get a little spicy before Dek interrupts them, lol.
My favorite podcast interviewed Britton Watkins, the creator of the new language featured in Predator: Badlands! It was very informative and we get a slew of words and how itâs spoken!

Another fun thing? He said he wanted to respect the old language and so sees that as just another Yautja language out there. Itâs just not the Badlandsâ language. So, this lends credence to this idea I and others have had for years now that they have different languages and dialects!
In a new interview with AvP Galaxy**, Britton Watkins has just become my favorite conlanger in the world by giving the Yautja language a cursive version!

The thing Iâm anticipating that already getting a lot of focus is that drek is stated to be a young Yautja (compared to the other one who looksâŚ.deliciously massive) but that all the other context clues were given suggests heâs NOT as young as Scar and his brothers were (and yes though they looked bigger, Iâm willing to bet itâs a regional thing also, and Iâm def not letting go of Dek being a hybrid for reasons Iâll write about below)

Weâre told Dek wants to make a name for himself, that heâs fighting for the RIGHT to hunt in this dangerous ass planet and possibly others, and he wants to secure HIS bloodline. For ME, that doesnât read as if this is a Chiva, but that this is a solo venture of a blooded hunter who wants to get out of his dadâs thumb and start his own clan.
(And this is also why I think heâs a hybrid, because why WOULD his dad be opposed to this? Why is Dek fighting so hard? I see a lot of similarities to Prey)
Now, Dan can very well get rid of the concept of a Chiva, but I donât think weâre building lore from the ground up! Itâs already such an impressive prospect that heâs developed a proper language, hinting that heâs keeping a few established words, so I doubt that heâs getting rid of certain things that have already formed roots across the AvP universe.
And no, no one HAS to agree with the those of us who interpret the Chiva as graduating college with a major in kickassary as opposed to âturning 18â as others have suggested, but I stick by the fact that itâs been repeatedly stated to be the final test before properly entering society. Like itâs less your 18 now life sucks wear a helmet, and more prove youâre an adult and can participate in our society by showing youâre an educated expert.
I had someone suggest Dek was a PRETEEN in one of my prior posts, so I need us to be sooooooo fucking for real as we learn more of the story. This guy doesnât come off as some privileged 17 year old, either, but a blooded Yautja w a chip on his shoulder and something to prove. For whatever reason heâs small and his hair is weird, Iâm sure the reason isnât because heâs âminor-codedâđ
Having said that - i feel Iâve gained a reputation for always pointing this out, but thatâs only because this is EXACTLY the kind of things antis use to infiltrate established fandom spaces. Youâll remember me when discourse evolves 1-3 months from now that insists we canât ship anyone w Dek the way SOME suggested it w Scar and co forever ago and lead toâŚvery dumb callouts.
As I said way back then, even if itâs YOUR personal headcanon that this is true, donât come at others sideways about it, especially accusing anyone of outrageous shit when it comes to fictional aliens who can live to 1000 years.
It was actually stated that heâs young and looking to prove to his dad that heâs a capable hunter of taking on a dangerous planet. We know nothing yet and only have speculation. Letâs not draw conclusions just yet. Iâll leave yâall with this from an interview. Donât read it if you donât wanna know!
