Well... Yes and no.

The last time Ryland Grace was CONSCIOUS of any human touch was when he was knocked out. Absolutely true.

But the last human contact he would have had was Yao and Ilyukhina. Who were told that he was scared about panicking during launch and asked to be sedated. Who did all the pre flight checks before the Hail Mary launched. Who would have carefully, gently carried Grace to his bed in the dormitory, made sure he was secure, and initiated his coma procedure.

There would have been love there. Remember Ilyukhina throwing her hands high and saying "welcome to crew!" Remember Yao saying how he hoped Grace would say yes. Remember how much the crew trusted Grace, Stratt's First Officer, the guy who helped them so much, and was so kind to them, and was the one who they entrusted their preferred methods of suicide to. Who thought they were wonderful and brave.

They would have tucked him in. Maybe brushed his hair out of his face. Maybe said something kind to him before initiating their own coma procedures.

Ryland Grace doesn't remember, of course he wouldn't. But the last human touch he ever had was full of love.

Between (still) recovering from surgery and generally being tired, I haven't posted a single tour de fleece update, oops

But! Behold my new (and only) supported spindle:

It is a +-20grams walnut spindle, an applewood ringdistaff and a spinning bowl on a little cushion (don't remember the wood type, oak maybe?) from Regenbogenwolle.

It spins better and better the more fiber you put on it! This is +-20 grams of Texel, and it could definitely take more. Gonna take this off, ply it with itself and then start some merino/silk on this spindle (the rainbow one I'm also spinning on my turkish spindle).

Other than spinning away at this I have been spinning some more advent mini's from last year (3× 20grams on my electric wheel), carded some Texel fleece to start a sweather spin (did a second test spin today, still have to ply, about 700grams total of white and dark Texel), and made a little progress on my Zwartbles vest spin (about 400gr to handcard and spin left) and a random merino/alpaca blend I found in the box my carder was in (300grams to go).

Enough projects, not enough wrists!

I can finally post about the 4th shawl of the year because the pattern for this dropped today! Hooray! (I had previously talked about this shawl in this post.)

But yes, this is the 4th shawl I finished in 2026, which, according to my notes I knit between April 19th and May 16th, and is also thus far at 1975 yards, the largest shawl I've knit by yardage.

This is Stefanie Schwietert's Tulpenreigen, that I knit with Manos del Uruguay Marina in the colorway Filigree. I'm very proud of it and can say with certainty that I loved knitting this pattern, it's an excellent one.
