Do you guys remember when Erik first took Christine to his house, clapped his hands together and went, “Right! House tour!”? And she goes into his bedroom and immediately sees a coffin and whirls around to look back at him and he just goes, “That is where I sleep. Anyway, I installed this great loft by the kitchen with a little reading nook where we can make out.”

Erik as a magnificent architect but terrible interior designer just making the worst possible building choices for his house under the Paris Opera, complete with coffin bed and grand piano, but the entire place painted landlord white

Canonically, Christine does call Erik’s furniture “ugly antiques” or something similar, and it’s all from the 1830s-1840s (Louis-Philippe era furnishings) so if we imagine the equivalent for us…

1881 - 1835 = 46 years… 2026 - 46 years = 1980!

So basically Christine gets taken to a house that looks like the equivalent of this to us today:
