Since I realize I haven’t said it before and I’ve been doing a lot of fandom posting, my asks and dms are always open! Especially for any questions/add ons for fandom ideas/premises I throw out there!
Oh god it’s so hard to narrow these things down. I love that he’s very determined, both in the sense that he is resilient and bounces back from circumstances easily in order to return to his goals and also that he has very determined positions—whether that be complete love and faith in Ellen, or something is wrong and he needs to leave, he doesn’t waver much.
Least Favorite Thing About Them:
I think the only time I’m really annoyed with him in the movie is when he says “Ellen you must be kept safe away,” after she asks to come with. I understand him wanting to keep her safe, but come on dude that’s her demon and you splitting up to begin with caused a bunch of issues. Characterization wise there’s very little that bothers me—even his flaws are things I like for the most part.

Favorite Line:
Oooh again very hard. My favorite line/moment is “Never!” in response to Ellen saying “keep away from me I am unclean.” It’s so so so sweet. But giving a second one because that’s a little short, the “you have my locket!” at Orlok always makes me laugh. In the midst of the supernatural horrors it’s such a thing to focus on.
BrOTP:
I feel like the obvious answer is of course Friedrich and Thomas—though I do head canon a one sided crush there on Thomas’ part at some point. Regardless of the movie strife I do think their friendship is adorable—and extrovert & introvert/outgoing & shy is a very fun platonic dynamic. Friedrich is very clearly fond of Thomas and wants good things for him and Thomas really admires Friedrich and is heartbroken over him passing.
OTP:
Ellen and Thomas of course!!!! They are adorable together!!!! They love each other so much!!!! He loves her so so unconditionally and it’s clear she’s in his thoughts always. They match each others freak and both compliment and balance each other. They should have had a longer marriage. ☹️ Genuinely I think there was no one else for him romance wise after her.
nOTP:
There’s nothing where I’d be icked out if I came across it—but him with Franz or Sievers I guess? There's just not a lot there really he hardly knows them. I also think him and Anna are very platonic. They get along fine but aren't each others type.
Random Headcanon:
I think he'd like romance stories. Or stories with political intrigue—anything related to a lot of social dynamics. Jane Austen fan. Would like the musical Great Comet of 1812 if he wasn't born 204 years before it was released.
Unpopular Opinion:
I think he behaves fairly reasonably throughout the movie. I don't blame him for taking the trip or signing the contract, because he didn't have horror movie foresight, and I think a lot of the things people say about him would get you a slap from one Ellen Hutter if she heard them.

Tvl finale ... it's crazy how they cobbled together a season from awful twitter takes, blatant racism, and a degree of egotism that even lestat himself would be shocked by. Fuck this fucking show and its creators.
