Does she really think she’s not a part of “fucking each others brains out”???
Paleontologists recently unearthed the largest tibia ever recorded. Of course, they threw a party to celebrate at the site, and I hear it was quite a shindig.
Waking up with a headache is such extra bullshit
Like, aquiring a headache during the day? Fair, understandable, many things to cause that
Waking up however! During my time of rest and refreshment? and this is how you greet me? Fuck off
The trouble with certain shows and their very intelligent fans is that the latter are doing PhD level dissertations on a coloring book for toddlers
#and with shows that could actually withstand PhD level dissertations #the fans show up like why is this complicated why is it not a coloring book for toddlers (via @ariaste)

Writers, which software do you use?
Google docs
Microsoft word
Ellipsus
Libre office - writer
Notepad (the fuck is wrong with you lol)
Pages
Other (comment, please, esp if you recommend it)
Checking results
I used to use Google docs, but the white mode only was really annoying me (tires my eyes), so I swapped to Ellipsus (which I genuinely love and recommend), but it was bothering me a bit that I need wifi in order to use it, so now I switched to LibreOffice Writer, which I do like.
It very much has a Microsoft Word feel, but is open source and you need no accounts to use it. It's local on your device, so no AI can scan it, and no wifi is needed.
I still wish it had the Google Docs cards, because, bitch, that thing is so good for easy organizing.
I don't know how to articulate this well, but I really fucking hate the way a lot of thin writers write fat characters. Like how men write women "breasting boobily" there is something so dehumanizing about how fat characters are often written. "He waddled", "he lumbered", the writer of the book I'm reading always mentions this characters "fleshy hand" when he does something with his hand. Like, we already know that he's fat. There is no need to describe everything he does as "doing it fatly".

idk i would personally rather give up access to certain products seasonally or locally than have people enslaved to give me the ability to have any product any place any time. i think i can go without tomatoes in january.

the raw betrayal and gluttony of this photo. I can’t process it.
The problem with studying the deep ocean is that humans need light to look at things, the depths of the ocean are extremely dark, and what lives there is accustomed to spending most of its time in that darkness. So when we go down there with submersibles and turn on Big Lights to see, we invariably and dramatically alter what's going on, in the same way that it's generally difficult to observe the natural behaviors of terrestrial animals if you whip out a megaphone and shout HEY GUYS WHAT ARE YOU DOING at them first.
A humble snubnose eelpout on its way to the whale fall buffet when some nearby humans give it a quick, unintrusive study:
I put this in the comments but feel it needs a reblog- Check out some of Dr Edith Widder’s work on light in the deep sea! Among other things, she used the bioluminescence of stoplight fish to deduce wavelengths which most deep sea animals can’t perceive and used that to create light filters to be able to film with minimal disturbance! And that’s how we got 25 minutes of giant squid footage!!!!
