I don’t like Elena Gilbert
i’m finding myself disliking and getting irritated with elena more than appreciating her character.
here are some reasons along with gifs why she pisses me off.
•forgives damon for snapping jeremy’s neck when he didn’t even apologize and later on tried to kill jeremy two more times. and what does she do? jump in bed with him yet wants to set the world on fire just to kill katherine for feeding silas jeremy (which is the right reaction btw)
•also doesn’t really care about damon killing aaron, her friend, who he knew she cared deeply about

and no, i do not buy that elena actually forgave katherine on her death bed. she was saw stefan do it, genuinely, and was “oh maybe i should do that and gain brownie points for myself”. and yea i know katherine did more than kill her brother and elena doesn’t owe katherine forgiveness at all yet i find it hypocritical how she goes on a rampage about katherine yet is calm about damon and easily forgives him
•having the AUDACITY to be jealous of stefan sleeping with other women and judging his choices while fucking/being in a relationship with his shit head brother
when stefan slept with katherine thanks to damon’s big mouth
when no humanity elena spotting stefan and caroline just laughing and enjoy each other’s company
when stefan tackled elena to save bonnie’s life and told her killing katherine would kill bonnie but her anger and subconscious fear got the best of her and said this
showing up to tessa’s cabin only just because she believed amnesia stefan was sleeping with tessa
when she sees tessa and stefan laughing together

like nah. her jealously pissed me off because she had NO RIGHT AT ALL to feel some type of way and JUDGE him too like it’s any of her business. it’s like “but stefan, you’re supposed to he waiting for me just in case i change my mind again”, “you’re supposed to be still in love with me”, “your dick only belongs to me”. she’s literally the worst type of ex.
and i just wished stefan, instead of feeling bad or looking guilty, got irritated with elena and told her she had no right to be jealous and judge his choices because she lost that right as soon as she slept with his brother and chose him. oooh, that would’ve been satisfying af. im more a stefan fan than stelena fan anyways.
elena was not the only girl jealous over stefan because there’s something about him that makes women fall fast and hard for so it does something to them when he shows love or attention to someone else.
•when she led stefan on by helping him remember himself by only using HER and their memories while being touchy and flirty but doesn’t bother to tell him that she’s with his brother until she almost kisses him
yeah i love it when DErs try to maintain that elena didn’t love stefan anymore, didn’t have feelings for him, and just viewed him as a friend. pure bullshit. she was ready to jump his bones when she was barely an hour alone with him, feeling up on his chest, being all giddy and flirty, plz🙄 like elena, aren’t you in a relationship?
•when she victim blamed and slut shamed caroline when she criticized damon (i get it she was sired but she should’ve apologized) and got angry with her when she told her she was sired and taken advantage of
•when she didn’t even want to apologize to her friends after nearly killing them when her humanity was off because “oh im gonna feel bad and i can’t do that rn” 🙄
•when she was just overall a passive character (esp in the later seasons) and always enabled and brushed off damon’s bs and that was even before they got together
•blindly and instinctively defended damon’s bs to the point where he has to shout at her to stop defending him
•spent the whole summer fucking her boyfriend completely missing out on her friends and most importantly her brother who she just got back from the dead (she should’ve spent the most time with him) and also thought about stefan the whole time and had a bad feeling about him yet didn’t bother to investigate (and i get that it’s a writing problem bc elena is usually nosey and stubborn so she would’ve done anything to get the truth but szn 5 elena, not so much)
•leaves jeremy in her boyfriend’s care (his murderer and attempted murderer) and he fails as jeremy nearly dies again and gets expelled from school
•overall, she still always had to be saved and did not grow stronger or skilled as vampire even though she was trained by alaric and stefan but tbh i will give her a pass because writers always wanted her to be the damsel in distress. though i will say she was more active and tough as human - she stabbed and vervained vampires, faced werewolves, and always seem to fight just enough to survive- but they completely threw that away as a vamp. the salvatores always had to save her from the trouble she usually put herself in whether human or vampire.
•sirebond elena stating stefan treated her like a broken toy and she feels she makes him unhappy when there’s no evidence to show that (writing problem more so)
here are more reasons because i apparently “hate elena because she chose damon and not poor steven”
•when bonnie damn nearly died by almost getting her throat ripped out by damon yet at the end of the night elena was more upset by the fact stefan broke up with her because he realized it wasn’t safe for them to be together so bonnie had to comfort her ignoring she almost was viciously murdered.
•saved damon’s life from stefan after he killed lexi because “i’m trying to save you [stefan]” essentially saying he’s better than damon and he would regret it
•saved damon’s life again from lexi’s boyfriend on the bs argument that “he’s better than him”
•had a double date with stefan, matt and caroline and went down memory lane of her relationship with matt eventhough caroline was insecure about matt still loving elena — then gaslights her when caroline vocalizes her feelings about it and her being not good enough for matt
•took drugs to hallucinate damon because “she can’t live without him” yet barely acknowledges the fact that her bestfriend since childhood is dead too (and not for the first time)
•has the man that killed/turned jeremy’s gf compel jeremy’s memory away and later on has jeremy compelled again by that same man to fuck off because “he’s just a kid” yet gets mad when someone tries to make decisions for her and i’m glad bonnie called her out on that bc she was being a hypocrite. she loves when stefan respects her choices yet she can’t even do that for her brother who was just as deep into the supernatural world as she was. ik she had good intentions and wanted to protect her brother but there are other ways to do that.
•says she’s not katherine and hates when people compare her to katherine yet she was stringing two brothers along because she couldn’t choose, had selfish tendencies, and when she turned her humanity off she was like katherine’s mini me
•was basically boy crazy and chose stefan and damon over her friends she knew forever — like why did she have to live at the salvatore house after her house burned down knowing that caroline or bonnie would’ve took her in? why couldn’t she crash at her friends house after she moved out of her own house cause jeremy wanted to kill her? why was her friends feelings pushed aside everytime when either brother caused distress because she likes them therefore they have to like them too? why did after everything like turning abby, having a role in causing grams’ death, caroline turning into a vampire not affect the way she saw them not even in the slightest? because she was boy crazy and worried about which brother she wanted the most
•only found out bonnie was dead because she needed her to get stefan’s memories back so he can remember loving and supporting her 😒. she has this tendency to make sure her boyfriends were good before her friends — took advantage of bonnie’s altruism to be the magic fix-it (everyone else did this too so she’s no different)
•couldnt even bother meeting bonnie halfway in the prison world to save her because she was too busy talking to damon about their relationship and whether or not she would’ve chosen him as a human and the fact that she couldn’t believe damon is saving bonnie because he wants to and not for her approval.
•wants to play the victim and act hurt when rebekah is antagonizing her when elena daggered her and help kill 2 of her brothers for the cure. and part of the reason elena daggered rebekah was for stefan
anyways yeah. elena can frustrating. i didn’t mind her that much in the earlier seasons, she was okay. there were times where she was caring and concerned for her brother and she never had bad intentions and is a good person at her core. it’s just that she can be self-centered, self-absorbed, hypocritical, self-righteous, annoyingly suicidal. i believe in the later seasons we just see how really underwhelming her character is and her worst qualities come to light.
elena stans seem to make critiques of other characters to defend elena when context is lacking. it doesn’t make your point valid because you didn’t take account of the circumstances. they can’t handle the fact that people don’t have to like the main character.
