Ok, so here's something that I dumbly missed the first time I watched Shingeki No Kyojin. Maybe you all noticed it from the beginning, but in case you didn't, I thought I would share it.

After Levi and Mikasa rescue Eren from the Female Titan and the expedition fails, everyone is regrouping and getting ready to go back to the wall. There's a line of corpses, and we see Levi approaching them, and doing something on what is hinted to be Petra's corpse. It's easy enough to deduct that he ripped her patch off her jacket. After that, we see a scout called Dieter arguing with Commander Erwin because he wants to go back to get his friend's Ivan body, and even tho both Erwin and Levi tell him not to go back, he does it anyway. This results in more titans pursuing the surviving forces, a couple scouts being eaten, and Dieter almost getting killed. He basically put everyone in danger. The scouts end up having to dispose of the rest of bodies (Petra's and the rest of Levi's elite squad included) to be able to escape the titans. Once they're out of danger again, Dieter, shocked and ashamed of what he did, tries to apologize to Levi, expecting him to be pissed off at him. But instead, Levi gives him Ivan's Wings of Freedom patch to comfort him, and tells him that's the proof that he lived.

Except HE DOESN'T. He gives him Petra's insignia. The only thing he had left of his squad was that ripped off patch. And he gives it to him. He tells him it's Ivan's because he knows it's going to help him get through that hopeless situation. I don't EVER want to see anyone call Levi cold hearted or emotionless again, because I'll get violent. Levi showed A LOT of emotions, but he did it in an unconventional, less effusive way. This, among many other things, is why Levi Ackerman will always be the GOAT. 🐐❤️
