Trying so desperatly to be good enough . For your own mother to give any sort of shit about you and you try and you try but it doesnt work and your left being screamed at on the way to work and all your co workers ask whats wrong and then you start crying more and your just crying silently as you work trying to to bother anyone and hating yourself more and more as each second passes.

Looking back at songs you related to and wondering how nobody could have taken the hint from just that. Sometimes, you still relate to those songs.

tfw you fluctuate between hating your abusive parent to having a breakdown wondering if you're being overdramatic or if you maybe deserved the abuse since they aren't horrible 24/7 so obviously you must've done something to trigger the abuse, right?

Getting frustrated that you don’t understand how to do something and being punished for it by your parents.

Not remembering huge chunks of your childhood and knowing with sick certainty that for all the times you remember your parent hurting you, there are other instances that you don’t know about.

Confiding in and relating to other abused kids and getting more pissed at their parents/homelife than your own

Feeling ashamed when you were younger and your friends talked about how their parents would use totally acceptable and respectful methods of discipline because you weren’t young enough to understand that what was going on wasn’t your fault.

Feeling like every time you let yourself feel sadness or anger over your trauma it’s self pity because your parent made you feel awkward or ashamed for your feelings in the past.

Feeling a weird hybrid of fear and resignation whenever you get in a fight at home

Flinching when your parent touches you and then instantly feeling bad even though logically you know that’s not something you should feel guilty for.

Realizing that what your parents are doing is abusive later in your childhood and having it change everything. How you see your parents, your siblings, the holidays. And not being able to think of anything else for a long time.
