In another life I would have loved to poison the abusive husbands of the women in my village

āYour pets only love you because you feed themā
Yeah well thatās also how your relationship with your parents starts out but more stuff happens after that doesnāt it
Illistration from the book āTroldvinterāĀ Ā -Ā Ā Ā Tove Jansson , 1956.

'Revenge is bad' to YOU. i love when a character destroys everyone who wronged them. i love when they get to bite and maim and tear and rip and scratch and kill. Sorry ur catholic about it but i'm different
Eurydice, dying now a second time, uttered no complaint against her husband. What was there to complain of, but that she had been loved? ā Ovid, Metamorphoses
can we talk about how tender leviticus was despite being a horror film? like yes the homophobia the isolation the haunting of the entity itself were all terrifying and the fear naim and ryan were feeling throughout the film was extremely palpable, but i feel like there was also this steady stream of tenderness bolstering it all?
it's in ryan's protectiveness towards naim that shines through even when he's hurt himself, it's in the way naim lets his guard down with the entity because he wants to be seen and to be loved in a town where nobody seems to (not even his mother), it's in the way ryan tells naim "it will never be me" but still makes sure he gets home safe, and then the way he looks so relieved when he realised it's the real naim (his naim) at the bus stop when he was ready to just leave town all alone---which, might i add, was probably an idea that naim gave him in the first place.
these two boys' love for each other makes me sick and i want nothing but the best for them.
JOE BIRD and STACY CLAUSEN as NAIM and RYAN LEVITICUS (2026) written and directed by Adrian Chiarella
someone said "ryan wanting to do cute shit with naim like take photobooth pics" and i'm now realising that the interaction ryan had with the entity that naim witnessed was ryan just thinking his crush wanted to take him out to a cute date. someone will see us. are you sure? even though everybody knows about me? you want to go anyway? ok :) FUCKING KILL ME
mind you that the entity uses the illusion of love/lust/desire to lure its victim, way before using the horrors, so basically, Ryan has this super tender love for Naim way more than anything lustful, while with Naim, the entity kissed him upon first meeting, and yeah, good for them
Basically how this scene went
*Looking at you with no emotion in my eyes* I am normal about failure and I donāt grieve every single thing that has deeply touched me even if itās no longer in my life
I'm built different. Worse, mostly.
being a bitch actually saves you a lot of time
theyāll think youāre a bitch anyway for having some reasonable boundary so you might as well just be a bitch sometimes and save yourself the trouble, the time, the energy, the money, etc
