HAPPY PRIDE MONTH🥳🥳🥳
Shout out to the ace icon Connor Hawke!! And shout out to all my fellow aces!! It's not nearly enough representation, but it is wonderful to remember that we do have a canon asexual character in DC.
Asexuality is so often forgotten about even in queer conversations and during pride month, so i encourage others to talk about asexuality more in fandoms, whether its headcanons or canon ace characters, and support ace creators and ace media!

reconvening after a late mission
i think the marvel vs dc conversation is bad because they're very different animals and i think its very obvious in how they approach the avengers and the justice league, even if you compare it between dceu and mcu, because at the end of the day superheroes in marvel seem to be allied with the governemtn regardless of their cause, like shield and avengers seem to be deeply connected in both fucntion and system because they're lead by a military guy and then the league in itself is funny because literally no one gets paid, they consider it volunteer work, that they operate outside of the planet so they would not be beholden to one state
the Avengers: you don't understand, we HAVE to work with the government. to protect people.
the JL, in their satellite floating just outside of Earth's jurisdiction: lmao ok
more “had to be held back by multiple people to avoid a fight” in the JL except it’s a mess of powerscaling and awkwardness so when they do lose it, J’onn is holding Hal back by thinking really hard about yellow, Batman took Superman down to the floor one time and Superman let him because he was terrified of accidentally ripping Batman’s arm off, 4 separate League members tried to hold Diana back once from decking an asshole planetary ambassador and it only worked because Aquaman wedged his trident around her chest and it reacted strangely with her lasso. the speedsters just hold each others’ pinkies. no one is brave enough to try and hold Batman back except Superman and that always ends with him flying Batman somewhere high up so he can’t wiggle out and hurt himself. Etc etc
Air jail for the Dark Knight
Rereading Batgirl 2000. Cassandra Cain, they could never make me hate you. I'd do five thousand backflips for you.
Boys I sure do love committing my time to my educations!
The humble Mia:
I love listing my favs’ actual flaws btw. It’s the best. Dick Grayson sucks sometimes because he’s an arrogant asshole. He’s mean as shit when he wants to be and often doesn’t have to be. He’s ten times more vicious than Bruce is even capable of being, he’s deeply manipulative, and he’s spiteful. I love every minute of it, and him. It’s what makes him interesting in the first place!!
Do you have any idea how gratifying it is to see this post resonate with so many actual Dick fans. All your “yes and” additions in the tags give me back months and years of my life. Thank you. After drowning in sweet softboi Dick (I know) to finally crest this hill and see, below me, a teeming collection of you, all raising your hands in excitement and collectively going “YEAH! THIS GUY SUCKS!” I love you all. Dick Grayson is an asshole. Thank you.
personally i think the reason Batman is really good with kids is because he more or less hitchhiked his way across europe and asia fully intending to wilderness man his through it during his training years but local families kept taking one look at him and thinking 'that skrunkly young man needs help' and would take him in for a night or more and task him with watching the toddler and up kids cause it was the one thing they were sure he couldn't fuck up
#i love the idea that the time he spends traveling isnt just him training; but also the beginning of him learning#to let go of his anger and finding forgiveness and love and community#the same things that will come to define his role as batman and mr wayne and as a parent by @tangerinetrees
it's so important to me that his traveling isn't just him learning to fight and be a detective, cause it would have been so easy for him to have never let go of the anger that way, he is a very rich very privileged man who's parents were killed in a robbery, it would have been SO easy for him to decide all poor people were the problem, to latch on to some kind of hatred and grief fueled prejudice to ease the pain and be just another rich asshole who thinks harder laws would fix the problem or to just import world class trainers
choosing to turn away from that was the first step in being a hero instead, but i think the next several were in traveling the world, in seeing places outside of Gotham and america, not even in a "wow now that i'm talking to them maybe poor people are people" but in a "oh shit i'm being helped by so many different kinds of people and i'm falling in love with all of them" kind of way, in a "i expected to be alone and miserable while i turn myself into a machine but people keep touching me gently" kind of way
he first steps out of Gotham and he's so cold and angry and hard and bitter when he leaves but everywhere he goes there is kindness and laughter and a space freely offered to rest his head and food snuck into his pockets and Bruce holds it all in his hands and weeps because how can he not love them all? how can he not think there is goodness in them all? how can this not irrevocably change him as a person for the better?
Hi sorry i just gotta
HE changed for the better and he’s a terrible person so clearly anyone can change
From your tags because Bruce recognizing his own growth and and it translating into the basis for his overwhelming and unabiding belief in everyone’s ability to change and everyone’s right to a second (and third and fourth and fifth and -) chance has me chewing on my walls excuse me
the “fuck canon everything is made up do whatever you want forever” approach to fandom can be fun in small doses but i find that subscribing a little too hard to that attitude can lead to this belief that serious engagement with and analysis of a text is an act of no fun self-flagellation when that couldn’t be further from the truth. analysis is literally fun
even going “fuck canon” is more fun if you do the analysis. spite is a love letter and i have editorial comments
“DC stands for Disregard Canon” hits harder when it's the conclusion finally reached by a comic reader who has engaged with the original texts and beaten their head against the inconsistencies caused by decades of rotating writers/artists, many of whom see characterization as something to be thrown out when convenient
it means fucking nothing when invoked by someone as an excuse to cover for the fact that they've never read an actual comic in their lives and only knows the fanonized versions of characters from Tumblr AO3 and TikTok
