Jason finally decided to ‘alive’ himself legally and go to college! He went though the process, got accepted, and now, it was finally the day and Bruce was helping him move in the dorms.

Jason: Ok, I know why you are here. You’re my dad, and you’re helping me carrying all these crap.

Jason, gesturing to Tim and Damian, who’re also helping with carrying his stuff: And I know why they are here, because they live with you.

Tim, snapping to attention: Wow, I can feel the love.

Damian: A simple ‘thank you’ would’ve sufficed, Todd.

Jason: And I know why Alfred is here, because he’s the one that drove us all the way here.

Alfred: Quite. Although I believe is your father that did most of the driving.

Jason: Yes, right. But what I don’t understand is why you are here.

Dick: I wouldn’t have missed it for the world :D

Jason: Neither would Steph, but you don’t see her taking time off school.

Dick: I love you very much :D

Jason: So does Cass, but she’s in Hongkong, and you don’t see her flying here just to see me go to college.

Dick: I’m very free because it’s still summer :D

Jason: And Duke is still on summer vacation, but you don’t see him skipping what he had to do.

It was after Jason finally left to his dorms, waving a hand goodbye without looking back, that the other half of the reason why Dick, and Tim for that matter, was here surfaced.

As soon as Jason was out of earshot:

Bruce: q.q QAQ TAT

Dick: Awwwwwwww, its ok B~

Bruce: downright sobbing because he’s so proud of Jason

Tim: We'll call him everyday.

Bruce: sobbing harder because he doesn’t want to bother Jason

Dick, mind reading: B~ it’s okay! We're his siblings. We'll annoy him until he calls you!!!!!

Alfred, also mind reading: Quite. That boy is going to do great, Mater Bruce, you got nothing to worry about.

Bruce: T^T

Tim, also also mind reading: Aw, B, we know you love us.

Then they sacrificed Damian and plopped him into Bruce’s arms for him to hold. Damian glared at everyone, but remained passive and soft until Bruce calmed down. Alfred really did drive the whole way this time, and Dick and Tim pulled out the comfort food they had stocked in the car for this purpose. A video of Bruce crying was also sent to Jason.

The older i get the more i understand why some people become obsessed with privacy, not because they’re hiding something, but because being constantly perceived starts to feel spiritually exhausting.

Did you know that soda machines at restaurants and movie theaters spy on you? That most common new cars now record your sexual preferences and send it to the manufacturer (and also data about anyone who also gets in your car, walks by your car, and maybe happens to be within visual range of your car)? That grocery stores are trying to force customers to download an app to scan barcodes on shelves instead of putting up prices, so the app can scan the phone, decide how much that customer should be squeezed for, and adjust the price? That more and more innocent people are being sent to jail for crimes committed hundreds of miles away because an AI facial recognition algorithm spit their faces out and the cops didn't bother to do the most basic of checks?

I am not uptight about privacy because I'm hiding something. I'm uptight about it because the people who dismiss my right to privacy are dangerous to you and me and our families, personally, all the time.

And often, they are assholes, too.
