(I will also happily headcanon them as happy and self-confident aces if you want but tbh I feel like you could grow up in the most liberal place in the US and still never hear the word “asexual,” let alone understand what it means, so for me that is so far into the idealistic stratosphere that I LOVE IT)

I had never heard of a "queerplatonic relationship" until I read "It's called a what?" which I found through this tumblr. I'm Aromantic and Asexual, but i've felt very deep connections with certain people that at least appeared to go beyond normal friendships. It's just really really nice to know that there is a term for that and it's a normal thing. ^_^

I totally understand, and I’m so glad we could help you find a term!

And yeah, I mean I’m panromantic, but I’ve stumbled into those deeper friendships, I’ve always just assumed it was sibling-like and called them my brothers and sisters…and in one case, my niece (it’s not a long story, just a weird one), none of them ever protested, and most of the brothers take their role waaaaay too seriously. But in a good way. I probably don't have to tell you this, but cherish those relationships, they're important.

But yeah, glad we could help you by sharing a story :) It’s kind of one of the motives I had when I joined the blog.

The gist of the fic is that Stiles is a girl and nothing else changes. Okay, some things change, but basically Stiles was born a girl and identifies as a girl but keeps canon!stiles’s personality. What that means is that Lydia pitches a fit over the state of her legs, she wears sports bras because she doesn’t have much going on up top, and I’m not sure about the whole lacross thing though, it seems like she still plays but it’s not actually covered in the fic. Both she and Derek hover somewhere in the ace spectrum, he doesn’t want a label, she’s hovering between two, demisexual and gray sexual. They have a conversation about it on their first camping trip together and I might be wrong but they might have both been naked during it.

Okay when I say Lydia being Lydia I mean she cannot for the life of her fathom why Stiles doesn’t want to look like a sex icon, why she doesn’t like make up, or why the women’s lingerie section gives her hives. It gets to the point where she shows up at Stiles’ house and demands Stiles strip for her and nearly forces Stiles to strip for her against Stiles will because she thinks that there has to be something wrong with Stiles body that she can fix that will make Stiles want to be sexy. They sort of have a heart to heart which mostly fixes things but the scene may be hard to read for victims of sexual assault or trans aces.

There are more than a few places I wish it had been fleshed out more, mostly the camping trips because I would have liked to stay in those scenes for a while and examined everything, but it was a great overview from right around 13-14 year old Stiles (maybe older) up to the real start of Sterek, happening while she’s in college.

It’s a great read and I cannot recommend it enough.

This blog is so, so important. I actually almost cried when I saw your post in the Scerek tag. And now I'm about to read the other stuff on here because -whispers- asexual Derek Hale is my lifeblood

Oh my God, I know right? Asexual Derek Hale is like…air! Like literally this whole thing came out of me complaining about Kate being treated like the reason Derek is asexual in some fan fictions and I wanted good ones where Kate is acknowledged for the damage done, but it’s somehow explained that Kate=/=reason Derek is asexual.

Am I allowed to say it’s sad that we’re important? Like, we’re so underrepresented in media that it’s hard to find fan fictions where we’re treated fairly and we have to make blogs for it, especially in a fandom like Teen Wolf where, in my opinion, MTV made a lot of things over sexualized. I have feelings about this I won’t get into here or on this blog at all.

I wish you better willpower than my own if you read “The Sum of its Parts” because I screwed up my sleep schedule reading that one, it was too good.

Cute little oneshot which starts from Paige and goes to some approximation of “now” where Derek is in love with Scott, and though they’ve had sex a few times, mentions that even back to Paige, while Derek desired physical closeness in the form of cuddles, he had to make his body go through the motions for sex because it held such little interest for him. He’s afraid Scott will leave him over that, but instead, on his birthday, Scott introduces him to AVEN, the big site for asexuality information. Derek finds peace in their relationship with the knowledge that instead of leaving him for his lack of interest in sex, Scott found a way to put a word to it and show him that there’s nothing wrong with him.

Not a pairing I like, but a genuinely cute fic that had me grinning like a loon at the end because finally, finally Derek gets happiness and cake, Which we all know is better than sex ;). No but seriously, the author goes from making everything horrible to giving Derek a gift, and it ends up being cute. Also for some reason, coming off a craving for asexual Jakeward Twilight fan fiction made me picture Jacob Black when the oc Jake was introduced, I've actually found nothing to support this view of him in a rescan of the text.

According to the author's note, Scerek (Scott/Derek) week happened to fall during Asexual Awareness Week last year and thus this fic was born.
