the more I think about it, the more it makes sense that pirates of the caribbean 2 & 3 were the nails in the coffin for disney on any type of big budget, on location, practical effects movie that sent them spiralling into green screened warehouses, like the sheer audacity of these films

you listen to the commentaries on these movies and everyone's like "yeah this is never going to happen again" and they were right
