 I was bored saw many comments about how Jax being trans "came out of nowhere", so I wanted to make this post proving the opposite.

Episode 5:

During the bar scene Jax laughs and makes a comment about Zooble being a tattoo artist and a bartender, two queer stereotyped jobs. Thing is, this is pretty insider knowledge since these stereotypes are not as widely known in mainstream cis-het spaces.

When Jax called his tail as the 'pinnacle of masculinity', he finds out it's missing.

And more importantly, there's the Jax maid scene.

First he acted infurated, but as he shifted attention to other stuff, he acted quite comfortable in it.

There's the fact that while Evil Ragatha told Ragatha nobody loved her, Evil Jax told Jax he looked good in the maid outfit, being a possible reflection of his internal and repressed thoughts.

Episode 6:

Jax, when pushed by Pomni, says "you think I'm a misunderstood chicken fetus in an egg that is waiting to be cracked open!", and for those who don't know, egg is trans slang for someone who is trans but is not conscious about it, and cracking open is realizing it.

Episode 7:

Jax is the only who didn't want to wear a swimsuit and expose his body, something common in people with dysphoria

He also talked about Zooble's ability to change their own body with a grain of envy.

One of the most explicit details is Jax's room, which looks like that of a small girl, and since apparently the characters can't design their rooms, it could be based on Jax's mind.

Episode 9:

There's the song "isn't she lovely?", which talks about the birth of a woman, with Jax moments playing at the same time. Really explicit.

One of the biggest tragedies of half the TADC fandom rejecting Jax's transness is they're not appreciating the fact that goose trojan horsed her transfem character in the shell of a tumblr sexyman and then made it canon in cinemas

It boggles my mind how many people I see being like "Jax intentionally caused harm and hurt people with malice," because, like, no she didn't?? She is repeatedly characterized by multiple characters on the show as evil, or "the villain", and every single time she's genuinely confused by that. She tells Pomni the reason she does stuff is because it's funny, not because she likes hurting people. The other reason she does things, and this is usually when things get a little too genuine, is to drive people away, both because she's terrified of human connection(you didn't take her words at face value when she called everyone her "playthings", did you?) and because she knows she's on the way to abstracting and doesn't want anyone to care about her("I'd move on...and probably forget about you", when asked what she'd do if Pomni abstracted tomorrow).

She's a complicated character, a brain scan taken at the lowest point of her life, when accepting that happiness is possible is the furthest away ever. She's nihilistic, she doesn't think anything matters, because none of this is "real"(and why wouldn't she, she shot Ragatha with a gun and she went "oof!", instead of, like, screaming and clutching the bullet wound). To be clear, you do not have to like her as a character for this to be true. There are a million explanations for why she does what she does that are both implicitly and explicitly stated throughout the latter half of the show, but the idea that she's intentionally causing harm with malice is possibly the only one that has evidence against it. We simply did not watch the same show if you think she's actively trying to be evil.

actually yeah the way certain fans treat the character with deep rooted mental illness and interpersonal issues most likely caused by parental abuse and being in denial about his (her) trans identity makes me sick actually. The fact so many think Jax didn't deserve a chance to grow and heal just reinforces the fact that people only support Good Victims/Mentally ill people. Jax is very clearly a rotten egg/so far up her own ass in denial and trying to push away anybody due to the fear of being seen and understood. People just hate trans women or anybody that isn't clearly performing femininity or queerness "correctly"

it's quite revolutionary in my view for gooseworx to create a closeted trans woman character filled with self-hatred, fear, and insecurity, and present her as one of the main protagonists and a case study on what happens when a person doesn't feel safe and secure enough to be vulnerable.

I absolutely ADORE this scene where Jax gives Pomni this little key to the locked door in her mind because IT MAKES JAX'S REDEMPTION COMPLETELY EARNED AS IT SHOWS THAT SHE WAS WILLING TO OWN UP TO EVERYTHING SHE DID!

She could have chosen to keep the door locked and force Pomni out, but instead, she gave her the key so she could see everything she did since the moment she got into the Circus. She let her see the dark secret of why she ended up in the Digital Circus, and she let her see every single terrible mistake and all the hurt she intentionally and unintentionally caused after confessing that secret to Ribbit.

And that's what this whole scene was! A confession! Because SHE CHOSE TO OPEN UP all of those memories to Pomni (instead of her just coming across them randomly or forcing them out of her), it means that Jax's remorse is completely genuine, as by choosing to do so, it means that she's owning up to every bad thing he did.

So yeah, she may not be a good person, and she may not deserve to be forgiven for all of the bad things she did. But she sure as hell had a very good redemption arc and did a good job at owning up to all of those bad things!

We talk a lot about how like, fandom in general has extremely piss poor reading comprehension, but I'm not gonna lie, the case I've seen in Amazing Digital Circus is frankly fascinating.

Like, I'm not the biggest fan of TADC, I thought it was fine, but it wasn't what I would call subtle about its themes. TADC exists very firmly in the Millennial Adult Animated series subtype, which means it looks like a kids show, while being about adult emotions, and also states its ideas extremely clearly. There's a bunch of these (BoJack Horseman and Rick & Morty are the big ones in my estimations). They are extremely direct and very blunt, which is in my mind just a neutral statement. Directness is neither positive nor negative

So here comes this show, which spends a huge chunk of its runtime explaining how basically all of the characters are damaged and need to accept themselves to heal, and then spends a MASSIVE chunk of its double length final episode detailing how its biggest piece of shit character became the way she is via a mix of self loathing and fear of her own identity, culminating with her begging the main character not to love her, literally indicating that she believes her own actions have made her irredeemable, AND THEN the whole show emotionally climaxes with said main character embracing her, choosing to love her anyway...

And a bunch of y'all seem to be champing at the bit to find new ways to punish her. Honestly y'all fascinate me.
