To be walkable, a city should have: - places to sit with shade and to get out of the weather, whatever that means for a particular climate (and not solely places to wait for transit) - free and public bathrooms maintained by the city - free water points with potable water that are situated near either or both of the above - free public transit - pedestrian bridges or tunnels for any and all major roadways, not merely crosswalks at crossroads - and those need to have ramps up/down to them, not stairs - places which are designed specifically for pedestrians over cars - streetlights which prioritize pedestrians - and those who move slowly at that - over cars - sidewalks which are wide enough for two people in wheelchairs to pass each other at speed
