Hey guys!

So as I’m sure you’ve noticed this blog isn’t very active anymore. It’s just me (tay) left running it. I’m not very active on tumblr, and when I am I’m typically mobile which makes it harder to update. Also, I have no editing skills whatsoever. Ellie was good at that. 

But I don’t want to just delete this blog, because i still think the reason I created it in the first place exists. And 2k+ people think that too, I’m sure, or you wouldn’t be following. 

So if someone is interested in running this blog, message me!

Fans of Lupita Nyong’o were psyched when she announced last year that she’d been cast as a central character in the new Star Wars film, The Force Awakens. But many fans were frustrated to later learn that Nyong’o wouldn’t be appearing onscreen as herself—instead she’d be voicing an entirely CGI character.

This week, Nyong’o herself shed some light on the casting. Nyong’o told Buzzfeed News that she selected the entirely CGI role, the first part she chose after winning an Oscar for role in 12 Years a Slave,  partly because she liked the idea of not having her body seen onscreen. In 12 Years a Slave, her performance was extremely physical and visceral—her character Patsey was whipped, raped, and otherwise brutally abused. “12 Years a Slave was a film that was so much about my body, and Star Wars is not at all,” Nyong’o told Buzzfeed. “There was a liberation in being able to play in a medium where my body was not the thing in question.”

I always write in exactly the same place, which is sitting in my bed, with two pillows behind me. I’ve written 50 television scripts and two books on this one place on my bed! I think the lack of the formality of a desk makes me feel really comfortable, and I’m a creature of habit.

Oh sorry, I didn't realize actresses of color only meant black actresses, I thought you were including ALL women of color whether they're Jewish, Indian, Asian or whatever else.

Regarding Gal Gadot: Ashkenazi Jews, Gadot among them, exist in that liminal space where the labels of 'white' and 'coloured' are less clear. We have significant Semitic ancestry mixed with white European, and individuals may identify as white, conditionally white, which passing, or nonwhite depending on the individual. (And to the anon who asked: Israeli is a nationality, and no more connotes whiteness inherently than being American does.)

Okay so what happened is that you have this old post that people have been reblogging recently where you say that Gal Gadot isn't an actress of color because she's Israeli, and removed stuff regarding her. However, she is a person of color AND an Israeli Jew. The two are far from mutually exclusive: there are many Jews of color, and of course some of them are Israeli.

OH, thank you! I wasn’t responding “???” to be rude. I was very confused as to why that person told me that. i didn’t know what post they were referring to.
