Acupuncture Shaobai Wang's (王少白) Tang Zhen(糖针) System (Part IV) Clinical Experience: Trigger finger by Tang Zhen Generally speaking Trigger finger appears when local related joint tissues are inflamed. For some cases in the United States trigger finger always end up with surgery, however, if you are treated with Tang Zhen(糖针) acupuncture, surgery can be avoided for most cases. So far in our clinic we have helped trigger finger from just helping one to all fingers: 1. Preparation: Routine acupuncture preparation. 2. Point selection: 1-6 Ashi points selected depending on how many joints and fingers are involved, plus 1-3 points between the elbow and the wrist acupuncture channel line accordingly. And select Yangling Quan either on one side or both. 3. Methods of needle insertion: Tang Zhen acupuncture method. 4. Detailed procedure: After routine sterilization, insert needle to the Ashi points 1 to 1.5mm deep. All the other points the needle will be inserted about 0.5cm deep. Use TDP for Ashi points, until the patient feels comfortable for the remainder of the time during the session. Do not put TDP to close, otherwise the patient will get burned, so be careful. 5. Acupuncture Needle Duration: 30 to 45 minutes. 6. Results: Generally, after 3 to 6 sessions you will see good results, however for few patients they will only need 1 to 2 sessions, while for the other few, they will probably need 6 to 9 sessions to feel better.
