They need to make more fiction about how the regency sucked. the reason everyone's sick of fiction about regency britain and ireland is because they keep making shows and stuff about how it was allegedly great and not enough shows about losing your arm in the peninsular war and then losing your other arm in the linen worker meat mincer 5000 while you're trying to work to feed your starving family who all have smallpox
I could make a well articulated post about this, in that the working class is denied a history, the insistence on only portraying the regency as good creates an idea of a glorious past which never existed, and in the case of ireland the history of the colonised is declared irrelevant in the face of the history of the coloniser, but I think the ultimate conclusion either way is that they need to make media about the early nineteenth century in these countries where the world of the story just sucks absolute balls. we have this, in some form, for the victorian period so we need it for the regency too. they need to make a regency romance but all the characters live in the same one room flat in an increasingly industrialising belfast and also half of the cast catches diphtheria and dies by the end of the first season
also the fact that eddie brought chris to keep buck company while they took care of the house. yes it's about trusting christopher and letting him be in the loop for the difficult moments but it's also about eddie showing buck that even when he doesn't feel like himself, even when he doesn't trust himself, eddie will always trust him to be around christopher. there's nothing buck would do that could stop eddie from letting christopher see him, especially when he needs to be comforted.

listen to me, this is so so important: you've gotta get used to really giving it your 60% as a default. like don't half-ass it necessarily but try not to go over 70% or so of an ass. you'll feel better and live a happier more fulfilled life, and on the rare occasions where you do need to lock the fuck in you'll be able to pull off bullshit that the sad miserable wretches giving it their 100% can never dream off, because they're busy draining themselves dry and you have energy reserves to spare.

it really just hit me that in the diner, that entire meal lasted probably like 30-45 minutes between buck ordering and getting his food and eating it and then ordering more food, and the whole time. the entire duration. he was absolutely monologuing at pissy hangry eddie. systemically ragebaiting him with sausage and pie. cheerfully and aggressively pushing all of his buttons nonstop as eddie dug his heels in further and further over his one black coffee. all this after hours on the road and them getting lost. like what do you mean it took literal homophobes interrupting them for eddie to lose it??? eddie diaz has the literal patience of a saint. they’re gonna get married one day.

No but...
It's true! Eddie started out sitting down in that slowmo/sped up sequence so the audience could track him throughout that scene. The others were blurry and unrecognisable, but Eddie was 'right there', very recognisable, because we had seen him sitting down in the beginning and we knew what he was wearing. It's so interesting how they directed/filmed that and 'why' they decided to direct/film it like that. They wanted us to see that Eddie is Buck's 'person' now.
Eddie is always there, never out of frame, steady at Buck's side, in silent support of 'his person'.
It is a thing of beauty.
