I had found you, struggling in the woods once. Frantic, scared, searching for a threat — one could assume what it was, judging from the angry shouts that came a distance. I had plucked you from behind, I do not know what had compelled me to act... And that was the best decision I had ever made.
I didn't know I'd feel a fluttering in my stomach, I hadn't known I would experience a different joy from the one I was familiar with; of a successful hunt, a filling hunt. I wasn't aware I could feel love, for we never required such for survival.
And never once did you glance at me. Never once did you look.
Why did you look? The least, the least I could've done was hold you in your last moments, so why would you turn to me? Bleeding on the ground, as those heartless wretches left with parts of you — to sell, to eat, perhaps to frame on a wall like the barbarians they were — why would you look at me then?
I could only watch as they took you from me, having had a few of their men gaze into my eyes as I froze into stone.
I could've heard your last words. I could've felt your warmth one last time.
I kept his bones even after his flesh decayed.
Years I spent. Decades. I tried to fill the void that was left, the joy that I once had in your presence long gone. Nothing filled it. No amount of food, no amount of hunting.
No amount of men I slaughtered, no amount of children I watched weep over mangled corpses.
No amount of weeping made me grieve any better.
A woman came then, decades later, sifting through the ruins of the town I had wiped clean of any hunters I had spotted. How astute and aware she was, yet she dared not look at me despite being alerted of my presence — despite being warned by the people — she came for me at night.
I almost laughed when she had offered me home, company among many, a place to belong. But I caved, how could I not?
I took the gardens. Away from everyone. It was an immediate decision once I noticed the outdoors of the Mansion. She never looked at me, not once. And she didn't seem to mind my scuttling over to the Gardens...
• Genderfluid, any pronouns!
• His husband's name was Daphody, he was a sort of 'rare beast' that was hunted down by the humans of their realm.
• Daphody's last words were 'You're beautiful'. It's a shame Iyerna never got to hear it.
• Iyerna and MM!Basa can hang out <3 Mainly because Iyerna can resist extreme temperatures really well!
• Millin and Iyerna are sibling-coded.
• Iyerna hides behind other statues and walls and anything else that could obscure them from sight if she does interact with people.
• Loosely based on Orpheus and Eurydice
• Favours Chaoxiang's opinion on things but won't ignore others.
• Millin would absolutely blindfold himself just so he can play-fight with Iyerna
• Will eat any visitors it does not like.
• They would slaughter MM!Scry so quickly if she even thought about using Daphody as leverage for getting him to make a wish.
• Millin sneaks a live animal to the Mansion at some point, which ends up being Iyerna's pet because it ends up liking her presence and it's adorable because the animal(I'm still deciding what it is) learns that not looking at Iyerna will him to move freely so its smart enough to not look at her and it finds the animal's efforts to be so adorable,,,
• She would relate to Cassiel so much lmao 😭💔
