Hello! I'm trying to get more active on tumblr for the first time in many years, but I'm mainly doing it (and by that I mean mainly reblogging art) in the HP fandom over on a new blog called luxalupinlvr.

I'm not abandoning this blog (any more than I already have), but this blog has never been a Harry Potter blog, and so I don't want to shock people's systems with HP content, especially with the understandably complex relationship many fans or former fans have with the series post-TERFgate.

I'm saying all this -- rather than just making the other blog and dipping -- because I'm proud to be a Harry Potter fan. Punishing the Harry Potter fandom for continuing to exist is a misplaced effort to transfer anger at the very real damage Rowling does to fans simply because the fight against her feels so powerless. Stifling fan expression, however, doesn't change that HP is the 8th most financially successful franchise in the world: it just shames socially vulnerable people who often care deeply about combating JKR's hate into silence while the majority continues on unchecked.

Thanks for listening, and I hope to be back on this blog again someday too!

nah cause the fact that jane austen wrote a character like emma woodhouse is still insane to me. she threw all the standards out the window and was like hey, here’s this incredibly complex and nuanced character, she’s selfish, privileged, manipulative and arrogant, but she’s also really fucking kind, she would do anything for those she loves (including sacrificing a lot of her liberties), she is able to admit that she’s made a mistake and grow from it, because those things are not mutually exclusive. and i think the reason why everyone is trying to girlbossify their heroines to make them like lizzie bennet (which is an insult to her character but that’s another story) is because they’re scared to write characters like emma. which is understandable, because she’s unlikeable-ish, and they don’t want to take that risk.

honestly the way jane wrote emma is IMPECCABLE and not everyone can pull it off, but i wish female characters with actual flaws were more popular.
