I'ven’t been very active along this year, but I couldn't miss the 1st of July... Piers's deed anniversary. 5 years already, but I'm still loving those two, wishing hard a Piers return. A Piers with infection? with Scars? with robotic arm? I think I'll keep loving him as long as he keeps being showing his strong feelings, his cocky character, noticeable loyalty, his awesome sniper skills and his deep trust for SuperChris!

It’s been 5 years

I was always struck by a particular part of Wesker’s rant during the final boss fight of 5.

And how it seems to call back to Chris’s opening monologue. Mostly because…Chris didn’t believe the world was worth saving or fighting for at the beginning of 5. At least he was in severe doubt about it. 

Wesker also brings up how terrible the world is, how chaos and destruction reign, that because of it the world needs to be wiped clean of humanity to give it a fresh start. 

Which coincides with Chris’ own thoughts on how the problems of the world keep getting worse and worse without end.

The story itself also makes significant note of this as well near the end of the novelization of 5 in its Kaitai Shinsho guidebook.

And the ironic thing is, is that through Wesker’s actions throughout 5, Chris does conclude that the world is worth the pain and strife he and others go through. Because humanity deserves the chance to try and improve itself. That we aren’t beyond hope.  

The difference and contrast was intentional, according to RE5′s writing team. Chris and Wesker were both supposed to represent the best and worst sides of humanity, thematically. 

They both at the start viewed the world as potentially too far gone to waste effort on making it better as it was. Why bother when you get nothing but pain, trauma, and disappointment in trying to do so? 

It’s also not a coincidence that Chris’ disillusionment and Wesker’s decline in sanity began on the same night. The Spencer Estate incident. 

But while Chris regained his hope and belief in the world through the events of 5, Wesker ultimately, adamantly, refused to believe their was any worth in humanity and society until the second he died. 

TLDR: Resident Evil 5 is much more deeper than people give it credit for.

Idk if this is a popular opinion but Resident Evil 7 was absolutely not a good Resident Evil game.

It took away everything that made the game a good RE game.

The game play was similar but at times it felt more of a spinoff than anything.

Not say it isn’t a good horror game though. It’s bloody brilliant.

But it was not the way to Revitalise the series.

And oh my goodness what did they do to Chris Redfield’s face??

Revitalise the series? If after RE7 we have had the lowest points in popularity since... ¿ever? (I can´t prove beyond 2004. :( ).

After playing through Not A Hero and End Of Zoe, I’d say that they’re pretty fun to play but they don’t seem to add too much to the story, over all.

I prefer it like that. I want more stories with Chris Redfield, and I also think it´s better when there are meaningful progress in the characters development and their interactions with other notable characters. But the whole RE7 it´s so off, I didn´t enjoy that game and brough character development and story progression there would have been a pity for me.  (And many of the RE7 that are horror fans, stated loud and clear that they don´t want nor care those characters, that what they wanted was the slow pacing game that transmit fear feelings, so ¿why waste popular characters development there?).  I think that decission will be for the better, reserve those stories for other RE games that can make them justice, and leave all what happens in RE7, staying in RE7 (or RE7 sequels, like Alice movies). A couple of days, Capcom announced that they were starting a quiet period (again -.-u) that it would last till the 30 of January, so it´s unlikely they make any announcement in these weeks. O_ò But after it, yeah, I am hoping the announcement of the RE game that Anpo is developing. (I wonder if it´s the one oriented for the characters fans, with cinematic experience, action adventure and multiplayer options, Anpo is the director of RE5 so I haven´t got my hopes crushed yet. But still, I can´t get hyped till I see it with my eyes, After Capcom isolation, their games turned very small O_ò). Also the mentioned RE2 Remake. Both projects started their development in 2015 so... 2018-2019 should be enough time for them I think. (I bet for the 2nd half of 2018)
