Life for Adrian after school finished was full of many events.
First thing was first of course. He attended Rory and Ethan’s wedding and spent a day and night with them celebrating. For all his many years and adventures in the future it was one of the greatest memories he will ever know. He kept in touch with both of them and remained strongly connected with them, often visiting no matter what he was doing.
He passed his exams with good marks as always and decided to apply to be an Auror. He was accepted to the program and it didn't take him long to prove himself adept at all the aspects of the job. He was able to approach each situation with an understanding that you can never judge a book by its cover whilst also still knowing how dangerous and accurate some stereotypes could be. In his time there he also kept in touch with Newt, often asking him for advise on how to help someone innocent clear their name when ever he came across such a thing. He also was always first to volunteer to give any statements to the press for the department and would enjoy any time on the air with the only presenter he trusted to ask the right questions, Ethan MacIntyre.Â
Years later after he had moved up the ranks he had been tipped for the new head of the Auror dept when the last one retired but he left the office before it was ever officially offered to him. He decided after seeing first hand how many moving parts the world had for people like him it was time to do as much as he could to help them. He began the committee for Magical Creatures Equal Rights. The world had moved on from its mistakes and life had indeed become more open all races, but he felt that they needed proper representation from some who had a stake in both sides of the arguments that often arose. He did exceptionally well in this position and helped many dispute come to an amicable end. He made many friends in doing so and along the way he bumped into plenty of his old Hogwarts class mates around the ministry and beyond. He also crossed over a lot with Ezras new Peace Corp type task force and the two departments helped each other in many ways when their jobs intersected between helping those in need and magical creature communities.
Further ahead still he stepped down from the role to begin a new venture. Newt was Minister of Magic and he was doing a fantastic job. However Adrian saw the ad for a position at Hogwarts and immediately sent an application to Headmaster Albert Boone. They had a meeting and spent a long time catching up. Adrian now felt he had seen enough of the world in his travels as an Auror and the head of the MCER. After this meeting Adrian become the new Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor. He looked surprisingly young for the role but those who knew him knew he was far older than he seemed. His vampire side was keeping him youthful far more than he expected. It was something he had asked about with many specialists but they had little in the way of answers and told him they still weren't sure what to expect in terms of lifespan.
This did not deter him in the slightest and he took to the roll of teacher with great enthusiasm. A mixture of practical knowledge and well traveled wisdom made him the best teacher he could be. Many years after he took the role he was happy to take another when the time came. Adrian Albu, Head of Hufflepuff house.Â
Adrian’s life was full in many ways. He always had a smile on his face and in any pictures taken of him or meetings no matter what position he was in he could always be seen to be wearing at least on item of Rory’s clothing range, regardless of what gender it was designed for.
He had a few relationships that lasted, some that were fleeting. His eternal youth was both a blessing and a curse in that regard. Some would find it alluring at first only to move on when it became apparent just how little he aged. Also his vampire side seemed to make it difficult to determine if he could have children. For some this was a deal breaker. But he didn’t mind. He had his friends around him and his students seemed to learn well from his lessons. His real trials came when his friends became old and began to succumb to old age. He would be by their side barely looking half way into his thirties as he had to watch time take them. He never let this effect his work and stayed on at Hogwarts for longer than some were even alive. But in his private time he was often drawn to thoughts of those he loved that were long gone. Sometimes these thoughts caused him great sadness and other times it was with a happy smile he remembered their time together in these hall he now taught in back when they were all young together.Â
