âSo, like.. High school shit. Awesome. Sounds pretty stupid to me too.â
âBut with some powerful people. Disaster.â
âWhatâs with all this despair and angry demons? Did I miss something?â
âI think someone slept with someone and then shit went south.â Adrian says with a shrug. âFar as I can tell itâs pretty much stupid.â
Who in town do you dislike?
Been twenty odd years since Iâve been around, donât know many here anymore. Not that Iâm the type to dislike many people anyways.Â
Three words that best describe you?
Shit man, Shit uh.... forgets every thing about myself. Fuck. Well Musical, wanderer, whiskey. Best I could do. so yeah, there, thatâs me.Â
âOh I look like a mess if I donât wear make up, Iâm one of those girls. Glad I can pull off the whole raccoon look though.âÂ
âSomehow donât believe you on that one.â She replies. âItâs the pale skin, means you can pull of just about anything.â She shrugs.
âYou ever try to fix your eyeliner on one side and mess up, then you gotta even out the other side and go back and forth till you look like a raccoon. Thatâs where Iâm at right now. But I feel like I might be able to pull it off? Maybe?â
âWhich is why I donât bother.â Adrian says. âThough you do pull it off.â
âWait, no,â Corey laughs. âI am just surprised to see you,â she says. âIn a good way!â She adds quickly as she rubs the back of her neck, then she leans forwards and presses a kiss to Adrianâs cheek. âHey, beautiful,â she smiles while leaning back, her eyes trailing down the road briefly. âGuess thereâs that,â she chuckles and looks back to her. âStarting a new chapter in my life,â she shrugs.
Adrian waits for her to continue, still smiling. âHope itâs in a good way.â She smiles again, brighter this time, as Corey kisses her cheek. She doesnât bother holding back and returns the gesture but pecks her on the lips. âCrescent Hills could fill a library.â she says as if nothing had just happened. âCâmon, Iâll walk you to the cafe.â
The day was young, as was Aspen as the young girl passed through the streets to the cafe. The harsh wisp of smoke caught her nose and caused to pause her pace and cough. She looked up realizing that it might look as if she were trying to do it in a way to guilt the unfamiliar girl for her habits. âOh, Iâm sorry.â
Adrian shakes her head, waving the apology off. âNo worries.â She smiles looking to the cigarette then back to the girl. âGuess I should be the one to apologizing.â She drops it, smothering the ember with the heel of her boot. She leans back against the wall, eyeing her. âYouâre a new face, well new for me at least.â She pushes her hand forward âAdrian, pleasure to meet you.âÂ
âHah, I suppose not.â She agreed. âYou know a couple of decades canât change an old girl like me.â Looking the other vampire over, she gave a grin of approval. âYou donât look so different since the day you leftâ you must be, what, in your sixties now? Howâs that working out?â Ireland seemed like an odd choice. Having never strayed too far onto the island, her knowledge was extremely limited, especially in these times. âIreland⊠thatâs different.âÂ
âYou kiddinâ a life time wouldnât change you.â She grins before looking at herself then back to Kitty. âYeah, sixty-seven.â she confirms. âItâs going alright, world is changing faster by the year though.â she chuckles. âIt was different, ended up there and just kinda stayed for a year or two..âÂ
âI canât speak for Catherine, but I certainly enjoy being hard work.â The smile on her face falters. âIâve been told I was quite the sight.â Recalling a different memory, she gives a small smirk. âStill, I did rip a manâs trachea straight out of his body. That was probably the highlight. What on Earth were you up to that could have been more interesting than that?â
âCan anyone ever speak for that woman.â She nods. âI donât doubt that you were.â She shakes her head. âYou always did love the violence.â She wasnât much for the violence herself, that damn was she good at it when need be. âI was in Ireland, actually.â
Ever since her mother had politely suggested anger management therapy, Noah had out of sheer spite for her mother refused to even come close to the idea of considering it. Somewhere deep down Noah knew she probably needed it, so trying her own ways of handling it that wasnât âbad waysâ. Feeling her lungs burn was one of the ways that had started to work out. Running, cycling, boxing, anything to put the energy into. She had been running for an hour or so when her legs stopped working well and she lost her balance, going faster than her legs could, and her hands hit the ground. Knees scraping hard against the asphalt, she could feel someone looking at her. âCan I help you?â she spit out while making her way back to her feet slowly but surely.
Adrian could see the fall coming before it happened, and honestly she could have reached the girl in time to stop it, but she didnât. She keeps her eyes on her after she goes down, wondering if sheâs okay. The smell of blood hits her nose and she figures there a cut somewhere. âWas gonna ask you the same thing. You alright?â she asks as she approaches her.Â
