I pretty much just re-blog whatever I like which mainly consists of Doctor Who stuff from all eras and Steven Universe. There is also some comic book stuff and other things. If you like River Song, we will probably be friends.
This is One Step Forward and Like Footprints on the Seashore by @adrianainthesnow (Stepping Stones blog, AO3)
It's also double sided!
[video desc: op flipping the book over to reveal that both stories are on the opposite sides of the same book, with one cover for One Step Forward and one cover for Like Footprints on the Seashore]
I stole this gimmick from Lauren Oliver's Replica - it's 2 perspectives of the same story in the same way so I figured the format fit
Since I have a tumblr now, I can show off all my printed fanfics! :D
First up we have the Stepping Stones series by @adrianainthesnow. They’re a little rough around the edges, being the first books I’ve ever formatted, but I still really like them, especially my color choices for the covers!
I picked red and gold for One More Step Out of The Pit because Tommy is the Red Glider and gold just looks good with red, white and blue for One Step Forward because hello, Antarctic Empire (side note, I swear it’s more vibrant in real life. I literally color picked them directly from the Antarctic Empire flag my camera just hates them), blue and yellow for Like Footprints on the Seashore for Ghostbur’s blue and his yellow sweater, and green and purple for Out of Step because it’s Tubbo and Ranboo’s story.
(also the reason the books are kinda beat up is because I’ve been loaning them to my kid sibling because they are Obsessed with this series. Like, they must have read each one at least a dozen times at this point. Actually they just came in to ask me if they could borrow One Step Forward and Like Footprints on the Seashore so they could re-read the “baby Techno stories”)
in my heart MB had a fake old bleach job for all of platform decay. its scary and i hope it changes its hair back to normal soon.
also this was maybe the best scene in the book. maybe it could be a we problem

Summary:
Tano had used the pillow under her head the night before and the scent of Farai’s favorite body-wash was still on the air, so her muddled brain got a bit confused when a hand brushed the side of her cheek and she leaned into it.
A moment later she pulled away with a start. “Sorry,” she said.
“It’s fine,” it said. It pulled its hand back slowly instead of flinching like it sometimes did when someone leaned in too close. “That…” it trailed off and took a breath. “It’s not… horrible,” it concluded.
(Or stupid humans should not do stupid human things like not sleep so Murderbot doesn't have to have these conversations.)
Author's Notes: I had no intention of writing Murderbot Diaries fanfiction but got inspired by the newest book Platform Decay... so...
Murderbot's reaction to touch really intrigues me, okay?
Platform Decay spoilers (the fic doesn't have any)
Look "tiny bones" and it letting a toddler cling to it like a koala got to me.
The Murderbot Diaries: Platform Decay Spoilers (Like, literally the last page lmao.)
Head cannon of no consequence: ART and Mensah spent the two days alone waiting for Murderbot to return from the roadtrip rescue mission watching different types of new media they found on the feed with the express purpose of picking out something new they thought Murderbot would like. This way it'd have something to watch instantly when it got back since they knew it'd need to decompress. That is the new show Art offered it in the last few sentences of the book.
(This had the added benefit of keeping them from freaking out especially when a certain baby!Rogue SecUnit did not return to the shuttle at the designated time and instead went on a field trip to see the sights and start a revolution.)
Spoilers for the first 3 episodes of season 3 of School Spirits.
I have an out of nowhere theory that won't leave my head. I'm not sure if I'm actually convinced at this point and there are a lot of other directions things can go but...
...I have a weird thought that Tracey (the hospital Ghost Kyle's girlfriend he wanted Xavier to find is actually Debora Hunter-Price (the superintendent). Which doesn't have a lot of evidence. But, I was really bothered by why she had surveillance tapes of the school. The narrative being spun is she's just an evil greedy person who wants to put some fancy development up, but the more I think about that... the less it makes sense. They're building a whole other school? That's expensive! Is this land particularly valuable? Maybe? There could be something we don't know, but I haven't seen evidence of that. I feel like there is something more there.
Here's my wild take:
Debora's middle name is Tracey (or vise-versa or something) and she went by that in high school, but later decided to go by Debora.
We know Tracey was in the band and on the bus since Kyle wanted to know if she lived, but I have to assume she did not die, or we would have quickly figured that out. So, she is alive.
I also assume she was sitting with Kyle. (Note Kyle did not die on impact like the band ghosts at the school but made it to the hospital, so it would make sense that someone sitting with him would have lived.)
Most of the band students did not see Mr. Martin's little jump across the veil. Quinn mentioned they were in the back and I assume most of the kids who lived also didn't see anything which is why the narrative about a person appearing in front of the bus was never spread.
We know two people saw Mr. Martin: the bus driver and Kyle.
I assume Kyle was sitting at the front of the bus and so Tracey was too.
So Tracey would have seen Mr. Martin appear.
Maybe at the time she was convinced she'd imagined everything. She was probably traumatized and grieved her friends and boyfriend, but she ultimately moved on with her life. She didn't forget Kyle and that image of someone appearing in front of their bus causing the crash always lingered.
She had a kid a couple of years latter.
She ended up getting her doctorate and became the superintendent for her hometown school district. She still hadn't quite forgotten what happened, but has shoved it down, way down, down with most of her other emotions tbh.
Then... weird things start happening in that school. A lot of weird things. Supernatural things? The paramedics and the sheriff saw strange lights... and a girl who'd been missing showed up out of the blue.
Maybe she does a bit of research. Maybe she remembers whispers of the school being cursed by their mascot choice. Maybe she gets a list of the oddly large number of people who had died in that school since it was built in the 1950s.
Was that memory that she'd been trying to ignore all of these years... right? Had it not been an accident? Had something killed them?
Had something killed all those other children throughout the years?
That school needs to be burned to the ground.
While waiting to cut the red tape, she puts up cameras to try to catch any signs of supernatural activity to prove herself right.
(The name change is why Xavier couldn't find her despite the fact that most people are pretty easy to find on Facebook these days, especially when they're from the same town as you.
Kyle would be happy to know she never forgot him.)
The WIP RPG is a way to gamify your writing during 2026 so you can prioritize working on projects you’ve already started. Each month comes with different prompts to help you make progress on your WIPs (Works in Progress) while the role playing character you create advances through a story.
For those who want a small glimpse into what's to come in the WIP RPG to see if they're interested, I've complied a few screenshots from different events scheduled on the blog. Warning: there are small spoilers ahead. I will not go past May with the spoilers since June is when the final boss quest-line starts.
If you're interested and want to see more, please check out the WIP RPG Information Post.
Welcome to the WIP RPG writing event where the real final boss is the in-progress projects that have been haunting your life for the last year(s). (And also there may be a dragon… maybe.)
What is the WIP RPG? It’s a silly little way to gamify your writing during 2026 so you can prioritize working on (and maybe even finishing!) projects you’ve already started. Each month comes with different prompts to help you make progress on your WIPs (Works in Progress) while the role playing character you create advances through a story.
How does it work? You create a character at the beginning of 2026 and follow this blog. Each month will have some different way for your character to build or use skills in universe by you achieving minimum word counts on your WIPs in real life. I don't want to spoil it to much, but here's a basic breakdown.
January-March: Basic training of skills associated with different projects that you've chosen to work on. Usually daily word-counts.
April-June: Quests ranging from weekly to monthly quests. You build and use skills to defeat enemies and solve problems. Decisions made during your quest in June will decide your final boss in November/December. Usually weekly or monthly goals for word counts.
July-September: Specialized training, gearing up, and traveling to the boss fight. A mix of daily, weekly, and monthly word counts.
October: The Boss's Keep
November: Boss Fight!
December: (Optional) Boss Fight Wave Two. (Your character may die!)
Is this right for me? This is meant to be a writing event anyone can join! There are different levels of difficulty so you can customize the experience from only needing to contemplate/open your WIPs to writing a baseline of 500 words a day. Even if you found this blog later in 2026, there are ways to join, so check those out if you're finding this after the year began!
No matter when you're joining, you should check out the WIP RPG Information Post!
I decided to make a writing event that is so designed for how my mind works in particular that I have no idea if anyone else would be interested, but I still decided to share it with everyone. The entire main storyline is written. (Well... actually there are 3 main storylines after June.) Plus, there will be some fun extra prompts.
I think it will be fun!
(Yes, I've worked on this instead of my WIPs the last few months. What of it?)
