thinking about my identity as a thin-fat qwoc

the idolization of white bodies has always been such a confusing space to try and make sense of. i grew up surrounded by people telling me some lighter skinned family members were more beautiful than me because of it. light skin, light eyes, that is what made you beautiful, as well as the right stature and size. growing up.

i’m somewhat confused about what to do when becoming sexually or romantically involved with someone who is white. do they even think i am beautiful? are they just settling? am i some sort of token? everywhere I look, I am told I am too tall for people to want, my face is too round and my skin is brown and my nose is big, i am somehow too fat to be thin but too thin to be fat?

in the same sense, am I idolizing white people as well, or do they genuinely like me or do they fetishize me or do they really not care about my skin tone/body type? i feel very confused trying to navigate personal opinions on what people look like (do i think they’re attractive because they fit into eurocentric ideals of beauty? do i think my own people, or poc in general are less attractive because of this?)

I’m brown. I’m fat. I’m tall. I’m loud and outspoken. I am the opposite of what I feel like boys want in a partner, and it just makes me so sad that no one will ever see me walking down the street and think “wow, she’s so pretty” because I am not what people want?
