I really have to applaud Lee Seunggyu because damn, did I feel Gitae's desperation in episode 7.
Both we as viewers and Wan got a "taste" of it in episode 4 when Gitae reveals that he tried to contact Wan in any possible way and searched for him everywhere, to no avail: Wan was nowhere to be found. "There was nothing I could do." says Gitae to Wan with crushing helplessness in his voice.
Gitae was left completely traumatized by Wan's abandonment, a trauma so deep Wan realized the extent of it only after seeing Gitae break down in front of him, even tho the biggest sign was there from the beginning: just how many times did Gitae ask Wan not to leave him?
Gitae is terrified of losing Wan again. So terrified that he feels at ease knowing his houseplants are rooted in their pots and can't go anywhere, so terrified that his friends mentioning their past gives him anxiety and makes him want to go back home faster (to check that Wan is still there), so terrified that he'll threaten Wan of preventing him from leaving if he tries to - paralleling his "I won't let you go anymore." of episode 4 - (but luckily apologizing for it after), so terrified that Wan not answering his phone makes him spiral into thinking he abandoned him again and leads him to anxiously shout his name on the street until he finally sees that Wan is still there, that he didn't leave.
And in Wan's embrace he completely falls apart. And it's a vulnerability so painful to watch it's gut-wrenching, so raw and fragile you're afraid it's on the verge of breaking.
Luckily for Gitae, Wan is going to stick to his promise and treat that heart of his with the kindness it deserves.
