So my new spot to do some #adaptivecycling was very interesting. 🤦🏾‍♂️ I didn't scope out the area before I had started #biking on the #catrike.🤷🏾‍♂️ I had a slow start with fixing my bike chain. I went over into a small ditch while trying to set my #strava. 🤣🤣 I didn't know that this ride was going to be a steep climb. I made it up the first hill. The second hill was not going to happen so I turned around to go back. I didn't think I was going to make it to the top but I did. Gotta lead the pack! My very first time going adaptive kayaking during a Handcycling and kayaking Clinic with Shepherd Center in 2018. A friend of mine had emailed me the details and I jumped on the registration quickly. You see, I have always wanted the to do these types of adventures just didn't know how to and I didn't have anyone to go with me. So I just stopped waiting on folks, put myself out there to network, build relationships and started to tackle these amazing opportunities one by one. I started to feel happy and like myself again when I had started to do things for me. I was 34 years old, I had woke up, and started on my own little adventure to live a fulfilled life. Highlights of 2019! Last year was my first year of racing on a #recumbentbike. 💪🏾I didn't know what I was getting myself into. I just knew that I wanted to do it. From going to a 1 mile race, then a 5K, and to finishing the year off with a Half Marathon. This year's goal is to do a Marathon. I am training in full force now for my next race in March. This time, I will focus more on #nutrition, #strength and #endurance training. The speed will come. . . I enjoy talking to people from all walks of life. It doesn't matter what we're doing, I just take interest in other people, ask questions and learn how things work. These certified scuba diving instructors were amazing and had a wealth of knowledge. The different types of adventures that I find are amazing but it's the people that I meet and the connections that I make, is what makes my experience even more phenomenal. This was by far one of my biggest adventures yet. I am so thankful for the opportunity and the chance to participate in the 2019 INVESCO QQQ THANKSGIVING DAY HALF MARATHON, 5K, MILE & DASH. First I would like to Thank God because without him I am nothing and can do nothing, to the @walkingwithkp for allowing me to be one of their athletes this year, to @catalyst_sports and @cannoncyclery for allowing me to rent the recumbent bike, to the @atlantatrackclub for hosting this exciting event, and to my friend and partner @rdavburg for encouraging me and being with me every step of the way. It takes teamwork and it takes a village to make the dream work. I am just a man going after his dreams. New PR on the recumbent bike at the gym. 13 miles in 51 minutes and 1 second today. My best time yet. Using 7 as my resistance level. I am training for a half marathon in Georgia on Thanksgiving . . This medal is from the Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon where I finished the 5K on a Catrike. @battlefieldmarathon. I hope to compete in some more races in Chattanooga, Tennessee soon. #flashback... This was when I completed my very first Para-triathlon clinic last year with Shepherd Center in 2018. I had gotten sick a couple of days before the event. I had gotten off work and went to the ER. The doctor gave me some antibiotics but it wasn't helping. I felt like crap but in my mind, I was ready. I prayed: God, let me complete this and let them see your Glory . . Living life fearlessly. I have these big dreams. It is ok to talk about them but eventually, you have to put in the work. I literally want to see how far that I can go. So this had happened over the weekend! A part of me still loves baseball. It all happened so fast that I didn't know that I had hit the ball on the first swing. 🤣🤣 Fun times. Four days of extreme heat and volunteering. Initially, I was only requested for one day of volunteering. I wanted to experience the entire event so I had made it four days. Today was race day. September 29, 2019. I made it to the end and enjoyed every moment of it. I had gotten a chance to meet some athletes and see some familiar faces. Knowing something and believing in something are two totally different things. You can know a lot of things and still don't believe in it and choose to do nothing with it or you can just believe in just the principles. Laws and principles work and they both are already set in motion . . Belief will move you into action. It will not always be easy but you have to tell yourself that you can do it on a daily basis. Adaptive Sports is my me time. It's a way that I can stay healthy, active, sociable and mentally strong. It's an environment and atmosphere where I can be free and I can be me. I am really taking to kayaking as I am getting pretty good at it.
