HOLY SHIT THE RIFTWOLVES WERE CREATED BY THE ALCHEMIST 'GOLD'
and--and the description of one is talking about Springvale and how they 'now threaten Springvale and Wolvendom',, please does this mean we'll see Bedo?? Or like something in relation to him?? Since Durin's corruption was also connected to 'Gold' and Albedo was doing some research on Dragonspine due to that--
>> take note, this is all connected to the idea of the alchemist 'Gold' and Albedo's master, Rhinedottir, being the same person. Also this is like half rambling, half theorizing...so, very unpolished. But the ideas are down and that's all that matters.
Anyway!!
This covers over why the Alchemist, 'Gold', is Rhinedottir as well as the connections between her, Albedo, the Riftwolves, and Durin (very brief).
It is stated that 'Gold' classified the Riftwolves as 'Alfisol'* which is a soil order--soil is associated with the first stage of alchemy, in loose words, a predecessor to that of chalk.
Where have we seen this??? Albedo's story
"Chalk is the spotless soil, and was used to make primordial man."
Now, Albedo understands alchemy in far greater depth than he did in the beginning, having also consolidated his understanding of knowledge.
"From soil was birthed chalk."
From this, it's entirely valid to assume one of two things. The first, that the Rifthounds and Whelps are a literal, chronological predecessor to Albedo, who is surrounded by the idea of 'chalk' both literal and figurative--
His name, Albedo, being the second stage of Alchemy and his last name, Kreideprinz, which translates to 'chalk prince'
Also, albedo is the stage of illumination and entails the process of "bringing light and clarity to the prima materia" (purification of the First Matter- a fusion of both spirit and matter with the intent to create); Albedo himself is a alchemist who's main goal is to discover the truths of life and the world around him, thus, illumination
With the illumination, we can also pull from Philosophical ideals, as Albedo also very heavily dabbles with such things. Namely, a piece of St Augustine's theory of Divine Illumination: "The mind needs to be enlightened by light from outside itself, so that it can participate in truth, because it is not itself the nature of truth."
Albedo, although it is still heavy in assumption and theories based off his story and interactions, is not human.
Thus, it makes sense that he would need to take in as much as he can of the world--nature, how things work, interactions between people and through interactions that he has with others--in order to truly reach that illumination. However!
It can even be assumed that he's well on his way to nearing a form of completion with this. In fact, it's possible that he has when we take in consideration his vision. Citrinitas is the third stage of alchemy, focused around light, or more specifically--Solar Light.
Albedo's vision manifests in the form of his Solar Isotomas and the large, crystalline flower that is his burst. Both include or are entirely compromised of the color yellow--the aoe of his Solar Isotomas casts the ground in a yellow hue, his Tectonic Tide is yellow. In addition, his autos show him using his vision to thrust his sword out in a burst of yellow flower-like energy.
(Of course, this definitely could just be due to him having a Geo vision, however, it's possible that this could be an intentional design--)
Ah, continuing.
The second assumption, in this case, would be that Albedo is the successor of the creation of the Rifthounds and Whelps and that the alchemist 'Gold' is on their way (or already has) created a being through alchemy that surpasses that of Albedo
I don't have much else for this second assumption, but I'm sure that as we continue travelling Teyvat, we will see.
I'm also kinda leaning towards some ideas surrounding the Unknown God...though I think it might be far fetched at the moment.

The first image below (Riftwolf drop) speaks of the very same 'Alfisol' as well as mentions Durin and how, in comparison, the Riftwolves are actually not considered to be very significant in comparison to that of Durin. Again, we know that Durin was poisoned by the Alchemist 'Gold', and that Durin also has the connections to Albedo.
The secondary image (Riftwolf drop) mentions 'Cretaceus' which is also a part of Albedo's constellation (Princeps Cretaceus in Latin, or Chalk Prince). The inference that the Riftwolves are the predecessor (whether chronological or developmentally in terms of complexity) to the supposed 'Cretaceus' (chalk, in latin) who, we can assume to be Albedo himself, comes partly from this nodnod
Again, we know that Albedo makes references to his inhuman nature and we also know the heavy implications that he is not human (or at least, he is an artificially-made human).
We know that Rhinedottir (who most likely is Gold considering the aforementioned info) left Albedo to learn the truths of the world. His final assignment.
And we know that, in alchemy, the goal is to achieve the final ideal of transmutation--lead into gold, chalk into being....so what would the greatest work of all be in alchemy if not the ability to create a living, breathing, independently thinking and questioning, being from chalk?

There's also another thing that I noticed on the wiki stating that Rhinedottir's namesake could originate from an opera Der Ring des Nibelungen, specifically due to the Rhinemaidens. I didn't do much research about this in particular, but it is good to keep in mind that the Rhinemaidens are the first and last characters to be seen in the opera.
If Rhinedottir is Gold and the fall of Khaenri'ah is due to Gold and the branch of alchemy, Khemia...it is possible that the story we know beings and ends with her.
I do still have many questions regarding Rhinedottir, Gold, Khemia, Albedo--all of that. But I hope to be able to add more to this theory and stuff sometime later nodnod.
*some clipped stuff from ingame archive descriptions about the Riftwolves related to what I mentioned vv
i'm thinking i should skip childe's banner since it's basically just an ayaka rerun without ayaka, but... i need chongyun constellations and i kinda really want childe :(
apart from the fact that the furry thing on his costume directly parallels that of the stuff on cryo abyss mages, i feel like mihoyo is just laying it on really REALLY thick that he's from khaenri'ah...
the cryo shield that shows up in c4? the 4th icicle that shows up in c6 (which i think is dumb, but), which is very VERY similar to that of a cryo abyss mage recharging themselves?
i wonder if the traveler has put two and two together yet
