One misconception i keep hearing is that “Bush didn’t do anything for lgbt rights” but that is objectively untrue.

He cynically exploited homophobia by running his 2004 campaign on the platform of a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage to get christians to come out in droves.

the local effect was that in my hometown, a pastor ran for the local high school district board on the platform of banning books (his preferred target was Toni Morrison) and allowing campuses to openly discriminate against LGBT students.

he won with more votes than any other candidate.

merida initiative is a lesser-known Bush policy. it’s essentially a weapons deal between the US and Mexico (plus some Central American countries, especially after the Obama admin expanded it). Some $1.6 billion that paid for mass surveillance, militarized police forces, and mass graves.

free speech zones are exactly what they sound like.

What gets me is that PewDiePie could quit YouTube and be fine. He could lose all his subscribers and be fine. He has made millions of dollars over the years, and he is in the privileged position where he can retire at such a young age and be set for the rest of his life (as long as he’s smart about it).

He could have made that donation to that anti-hate group and would have been fine, because even if he lost all his subscribers, he’s in a good place financially. He doesn’t have to keep making videos, but he’s really a combination of things. He’s shitty, greedy, and disingenuous. I don’t believe he was making that donation out of the goodness of his heart. He wanted positive publicity, but because most of his subscribers seem to be shitty people and their views are too important to him, it didn’t work out that way.

In short, PewDiePie is a shitty person and I will never trust him.

PewDiePie stans, do not interact. Like I said, regardless of how this plays out, he’s going to be fine. He doesn’t need you to attack some nobody on Tumblr for him.
