Taken from someone we know ...
As written by Myriam Sassine - we loved it so much we are sharing it!
Birdman by Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu punched me in the face and left me ecstatic and overwhelmed by the utmost pleasure Cinema can give.
In an intimate existential drama with the looks of a blockbuster, Michael Keaton delivers a powerful inhabited performance I would have never suspected from him. Edward Norton, Zach Galifianakis and Emma Stone are no less impressive nor surprising.
Everything in this film, from the incredible casting, the perfect screenplay, the tensed score to the impressively innovative visual language, takes us on an intense journey into a man's head, a man's who is not only an actor but a father, a star, a failure, a has been, a fighter.
During two full hours and beyond, we reflect on the love hate relationship between Art and Entertainment, Cinema and Theater, Authenticity and Performance, Artists and Critics, Narcissism and Humility in a film that is the living proof that all of these notions can jointly and fully coexist in one piece, or more likely a Masterpiece.
Thank you for this magical moment. It will accompany me for a long time...
