Help Edith V raise money to support Sense
I’m running the 2026 London Marathon for a reason close to home.
I don’t talk about this often, but I’m a single mom to a disabled child. Life has been incredibly difficult- emotionally, financially, physically. And for a long time, I lost the version of myself that wasn’t just a caregiver.
I started running just one year ago for my mental health. Not because I was fast or had the right gear, but because I needed something of my own. And while running hasn’t “fixed” everything, it’s helped me feel like a person again.
Between my daughter’s needs, therapy appointments and daily care, I often miss training days or have to shorten my runs. I don’t have a gym membership or expensive equipment.
Sometimes, my daughter joins me at races in an adaptive stroller. She’s my reason for running and now I’ve been given the chance to run the 2026 London Marathon on behalf of Sense, a UK charity supporting over 32,000 people who are deafblind or living with complex disabilities, like my daughter.
The last time I was in London, it was to bury my mother in 2022. So returning to run this race, for a cause this close to home, is deeply emotional for me.
I’ve set up a fundraising page. My daughter and I made the first donation ourselves. If my story speaks to you and if you believe in access, inclusion, or just rooting for someone trying their hardest, i hope you’ll consider donating.
Even $1 helps. Or you can share my link, and help spread the word.
No pressure. I know the world is heavy right now.
Thank you for reading. That support means everything to me.
