“ saudade ” January 2014 by me. When I started to paint this artwork my aim was to show a woman who looked strong and weak at the same time. The title would have been something like “ This a woman’s world ”.  But the more I was painting the more my nostalgic-melancholic mood invade my work. Moreover for some inexplicable reasons (well it’s possible to explain but I’m to lazy to do so) I felt like visiting Portugal. That’s how the perfect title for this work became “saudade”. This is a typical Portuguese noun and emotion that is barely impossible to translate, it can be seen as a sweet melancholia.

PS: The amazing Cesaria Evora had a song named “sodade”
